JB4 WMI Stinger Dyno Results 11/06/18

As long as pump temps are below say 120F it should be fine. If it's too hot fluid evaporates in the pump heat and causes vapor lock.

Fires occurred from fluid leaking out of the factory washer fluid tank/neck, lighting off the exhaust, not from meth lines themselves leaking.
Seems the trunk will get over 120 in the summer sitting in the sun.

Really it's probably fine up to 150f on a 50/50 mix. I just want these guys to consider the effects of heat on WMI fluid in the pump head.

Terry. In the V8 performance world I live in guys put Snow WMI and similar kits underhood with no ill effects. Those turbo and SC V8's put off quite a bit more underhood heat than this little V6TT. There's a 0% chance I'll put that tank and pump in the back and run the leads and feed hose the length of the long Stinger. Put the pump in a cavity behind the front bumper if you're that concerned. Use the factory washer bottle or aftermarket one. I look forward to purchasing your JB4 with all the goodies after I make the first payment on this GT1.

answered my own question... dumb moment.

Yeah, I’m not inclined in running the lines on the length of the car. More exposed, more to uninstall, etc.

It takes around 10 min to run the lines from the back to the front through the interior, same to reverse it again later. All easy work without having to go under car. The pump and the tank fit nicely in the back. So that is the implementation we suggest.

That said it's your car, your parts, so feel free to install them however you'd like. :)

Terry..so you have had the pumphead go dry underhood I take it. you were not able to mount the pump to keep the pumphead flooded? did you backcheck the pump to keep the head from draining out? on my skeeter mister systems when the tank is almost empty its a 3 foot head the pump has to overcome ,but in an engine bay hardly any head to draw if even you cant keep the pumphead flooded. Working with these same diaphragm pumps it does take a sec or two to come up to my full 200 psi,but that's 30/40 nozzles on a hundred foot run....not one nozzle on a 6 foot run if underhood.....ill bet a trunk mounted pump unit has a delay in full pressure too sometimes especially if its not backchecked......:) Wash

The pump needs to be mounted below the the fluid level for priming, and temperature needs to stay low enough to prevent fluid boiling in the pump assembly. Once the pump loses prime the only way to restore full flow is to disconnect the line from the nozzle or solenoid and turn on the pump so it can "free flow" high volume under no pressure for a couple of seconds.

Well guys Terry is right...I have been installing the DIY conical filters and been under the hood...MY gosh the temps are very high under there, and I believe we would boil off the alky in the pumphead as Terry has explained....well doggone....looks like a trunk mounted meth system to me :) Wash
btw I cant find any install pics on this wmi from any members....can yall clue me in?

I haven't seen any member install pics yet just the ones in the instructions from BMS.

I don’t have pics of mine cleaned up, but here was the rough in with my custom brackets.

A 30/70 Alky/Water shouldn’t boil off should it? I mean that’s a pretty stable mixture. I would just be running for a “cushion” and cleaning the valves....

I keep hearing about the flammability but 30/70 - 20/70 about impossible to ignite.

Twin nope it wont light off...BUT... here's what the deal is....I checked the temp underhood on a 85 degree day after driving, and the place where the pump would be mounted was close to 200 degrees inside.....so what happens with the way these lil diaphram pumps are designed with the plastic head the mixture that's sitting inside the head would boil off... we are talking about prolly a thimble full of liquid in the head of this pump...and boil off easier with the alky mixture....so this lil pump loses its prime and wont work until you prime it again by taking the line off sez Terry and repriming....I use these pumps, but not with alky...they are outside under a black cover and they do lose prime sometimes, but they regain pressure in about 3 seconds....BUT this is not under a hood with temps at 200 degrees and an alky mix....im a believer pretty much in what Terry sez about not being able to put the pump underhood....too bad.....looks like the trunk mount for me....:) Wash

With it mounted like you have, do you lose the ability to keep the spare tire?

Yes to mount in in the trunk like that you need to lose the spare.
