Hi guys as the title say’s i’m torn at the moment between installing a JB4 or getting an ecu tune for my Stinger 3.3 and I wanted to hear your guys thoughts and opinions. I have my plugs gapped ready for the install and intakes already done too.

I should mention that i’m in the UK. I have found one supplier of the JB4 here and was planning to purchase it nhowver just came across a tuning company called Celtic Tuning who have developed a map to reach 415bhp with stock components. They say they have mapped 12 Stingers with the tune with no issues reported so far. So what do you guys think would be the better option to go with? I’m torn. Both cost roughly the same at around £450.00 ($580.00) thought i’d ask in this forum as lot’s of people seem to mod their Stingers in the US, in the UK nobody else seem’s interested in modding most have never heard of JB4. Thanks in advance

If you could find a reputable shop around you that could do it, I would prefer ECU anyday over the Jb4. It's just that no one does it. Pressertech and Tork are the only ones I know in America that are reputable and I didn't feel like mailing my ECU off for 3-4 days and have no transportation.

The JB4 offers really good performance. Logic detects that an ECU tune would be more efficient in getting more out of your engine then a piggy back box.

The JB4 has resale value down the road and is a well proven option. Even if you decide to flash later you'll want the JB4 for advanced logging, boost by gear, and fine tuning of that flash map... :)

You can buy from a UK BMS dealer or just order direct off our site, we use FedEx, stuff gets there fairly quickly.

Celtic Tuning are the only one’s I have seen in the UK. They don’t require to pull the ecu. They are a mobile company with vendors across the UK. They come to your house to install the pre written tune. That’s the one thing that puts me off it is that I don’t get a rolling dyno test before or after the tune. Also Celtic say they have only done 12 Stingers oppose to JB4 which is far more tried and tested.

Thanks for that Terry if I was to go for the JB4 I would prefer to buy direct from your site however coming from the US the import tax by UK customs would add another 20% of the value on top before they would allow it through.
So I have found one BMS dealer in the UK selling the JB4 however unlike your site it does not say that it includes the fuel control wires or the billet enclosure is this right? Or is it only direct from BMS that these are included foc?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Customs and duty are paid one way or another. To the FedEx guy or to the dealer. It's normally cheaper to go direct but more convenient to get from a dealer if they are close to you.

You'd have to check with them to see if they have newer or older versions in stock.

I have had the JB4 for about 8 months and no issues at all. I absolutely love the performance gains. You also have numerous maps to choose from and the option to run WMI.

I don't know much about celtic tuner but for me its the JB4. We have a few tuners in the USA that ecu tune but in my opinion the JB4 outperforms them and the JB4 has resale value if you change your mind down the road. Keep in mind that you can run the JB4 with an ecu tune as well.

Any company that doesnt use a dyno for a 'custom ECU tune' i would run a mile mate. JB4 is where im heading with the hope that some custom dyno tunes come out. From my experience drive way tunes dont end well

Celtic Tuning develop their own maps in-house and have a dyno set up at their HQ in Newquay, Cornwall. I used them for my Civic FK2 and plan on doing the same for my 3.3 Stinger. They licence the map for other suppliers but they are developed using a dyno.

Hey Phil, I'm new to this forum, bought my 2017 67 plate Stinger GTS in Jan 2021.

Looking to mod it out as a project car, I've currently fitted an Fi (frequency intellegent) full valvetronic turboback exhaust system to the car. I'm looking to change the intake, spark plugs and add oil catch can too, and of course when all of that is then, it will come down again to the problem you faced, JB4 or find a dyno tuner to get a custom dyno tune. I'm in the UK too and its a struggle to find another Stinger owner to talk to.

What did you go with in the end? and how is everything going so far?

Hi Oliver , slightly unrelated but I too am about to purchase a 17’ GTS and just wanted to ask if it has launch control? The demonstrator didn’t know and I couldn’t test it due to weather in the test drive .
