Hello people ! (Sorry for my bad english i’m a quebecer from canada).
Here’s the point: I have a stinger GT limited awd (365 hp), i recently bought a sprintbooster. I am really surprised of this little gadget (not adding HP but the car is quicker).
i want to buy a chip to tune my car and add more hp. I hesitate between the jb4 and the racechip gts (oh by the way, they are 100$ off until 27 janvier). There is a difference of near 350$ between the two. Racechip is cheaper. I will not add extra modification on my car, i just want an extra boost to have fun. I am not a mecano so i want a tune who is safe for my car. I don’t want chek engine or troubleshooting with the tune. So, which one do you prefer and don’t forget that’s this is the only mods that i will put on the car and racechip is 350$ Canadian less than the jb4.
i want your tought on this..... thank you people !!!

JB4 or regret. Your choice.

Unfortunately you can't just run JB4 or Racechip without other modifications. At a minimum you will need to upgrade your sparkplugs with aftermarket plugs and adjust the gap on the plugs to ensure either of those piggyback tuners work safely/effectively. If you're okay with upgrading your plugs 100% JB4 is the better of the two by a longshot.

Okay, i’m on burgertuning site, and there is two set of sparkplug... step 1 and step 2. And when you choose one or the other, you have the choice of « 6 pack for 6 cylinder » or « 14 mm gapping » (those one cost much than the 6 pack). I don’t know which one to choose and what is the 14 mm gapping? Is it better? Thanks a lot for your response !!! :)

The 14 mm is a tool used to gap the plugs, it also comes with the feeler gauge and socket. The additions are what you need to install the plugs. If you have those tools, then you just need the plugs. The picture on their site clearly shows the three additional tools that come with the more expensive option.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Also, though Race chip is cheaper, you get what you pay for......

Ok i will go for jb4 today :)
The six pack at 60$ us is it ok? Or i must buy the 14 mm? The jb4 and the spark plugs will be installed by a professional. Thank you very much !!! I appreciate

If you are not going to do the install, then do not bother with the tools, unless you just want them handy. Think about future maintenance though... Something to be said about a man who can maintain his vehicle. I'm not trying to spend your money but maybe in the future invest in the tools to keep your vehicle in tip top shape. The $60 for those plugs is a good deal. My local shop sell them for $12.00 a piece!

If you're not handy and dont have interest in working on the car yourself then skip the tools but I do have a fair warning to you. If you're not handy and cant remove the JB4 on your own and plan to have your Stinger maintenance done at the dealer the dealer will flag your car when it comes in with a JB4 tuner installed on it so you can kiss warranty coverage on your engine/drivetrain goodbye when they see it. Maybe you dont care about that but I felt the need to at least warn you.

What’s the difference between JB4 and RaceChip?

JB4 vs racechip dte nm vr afe scorcher lap uncle and countless others.

While the JB4 is the best and most highly developed piggyback tuning system there is no shortage of would-be competitors. We’ll discuss just a handful of the differences below.

What is CANbus anyway? CANBus is the spinal cord that connects the many modules or computers throughout your vehicle together and allows them to operate as a cohesive team. When a technician plugs a tool in to the OBDII port for diagnostics, it’s tapping in to the CANbus allowing full access to the entire vehicle. The JB4 includes this same level of vehicle-wide computer integration. A JB4 with its CANbus connection can read virtually every sensor on your vehicle including critical internal calculations like fuel trims and knock count. This allows the JB4 to take gas pedal position, throttle position, oil temperature, water temperature, intake temperature, engine speed, air/fuel ratio, fuel trims, ignition advance, knock, and countless other factors in to your tuning, providing smoother, stronger, and safer performance. On the other hand boxes like RaceChip without CANbus are limited to reading only the boost sensors they attach to resulting in a “MAP clamp” tuning approach. Common symptoms of non-CANbus related tunes include stuttering, poor shifting, and reduced top-end performance. Since these systems can’t correct the conditions causing the issue, their only solution to any tuning issue is to “turn down the boost”.

It’s not just about boost. While boost control is the most visible aspect of piggyback tuning it’s important to keep in mind fuel & ignition control are just as critical to engine performance and safety. Cranking up boost without properly accounting for fueling and ignition can result in detonation, knocking, stuttering, excessive EGT melting parts, and degraded performance. While JB4 strategies for fuel and ignition control vary by platform - using its additional signal ports, processing power, and CANbus - boost, timing, and fuel are always accounted for. And unlike other the tuning systems, you don’t need to take our word for it. The JB4 allows monitoring of all critical engine criteria including diagnostic faults in real time via the optional JB4 mobile app.

What’s with all the different JB4 systems? Each JB4 is designed from the ground up specifically for your vehicle. That includes BMS sourcing one of every vehicle we of support for development and long term R&D. It’s why you’ll usually see *actual* dyno charts and performance metrics for each vehicle on our website and why the JB4 systems themselves need to vary by platform. With each application we optimize the JB4 hardware and software for that specific platform and we always commit to future development through free JB4 software updates that can be loaded via the optional JB4 mobile app. Updates that give the JB4 improved performance, new features, more mapping options, and much more. It’s why you’ll often see BMS employees active within Facebook groups and car forums interacting with our customers for feedback and ideas for improving the JB4 for that specific application.

Our competitors, on the other hand, usually take a universal approach to tuning. Using the same hardware and software they apply the minimum required changes to make it compatible across as many different turbocharged vehicles as possible, often ignoring critical platform differences and changing only the MAP sensor connections on the harness before moving on to the next vehicle application never to return.

What’s the deal with the gas mileage claims? JB4 competitors often make false claims of “improved fuel economy” using their tuning systems. It is not possible to improve fuel economy using MAP sensor tuning and generally speaking more horsepower requires more fuel to support it. So what is the basis of these claims? It all comes down to how fuel economy is measured by the factory computer in some vehicles. Since RaceChip and other simplistic MAP clamp tuning systems apply a preset boost increase at all times regardless of gas pedal position or operational mode, some vehicles base their internal mileage reading off this full time bogus signal resulting in higher than actual mileage displayed in dash. If you measure economy using your trip meter in dash you’ll discover not that fuel economy has increased but rather that RaceChip has simply made the internal gas mileage reading inaccurate. The JB4 on the other hand generally does not negatively affect the economy readings in dash, and while it’s always true that making more power requires more fuel, with the JB4 you’re only using more fuel when racing around under heavy throttle making more power. Fuel economy during normal driving with the JB4 enabled is unchanged.

Ok thank you to all of you! My maintenance is done by mchip here in Quebec. Those guys are specialized in modifying cars since many years. I will never go again to my kia dealer. They broke two mags when they tried to put the winter tires (big scratch). They put 48 psi at the rear wheels and 38 left front wheel and 21 right front wheel (i have picture of this). They are idiots and incompetent (i don’t know if you write like this in english, but you understand what i mean ). I will never go back again to the dealer with my car.

Pat0482,

Both are good options, JB4 has a bit of a bigger following and tends to be more popular.

Also, with Terry Burger being so involved in the community, it helps to have that extra peace of mind.

With a tune, you are going to see more benefits from it when adding more aftermarket parts but it's not necessary.

You can always install it on a stock car and upgrade only the spark plugs to see a difference.

If you or anybody else is looking to pick up the tune with the necessary spark plugs, we carry the HKS spark plugs, Jb4, and Bluetooth connector on our website.

Last question for you guys: does all intakes add the same hp on a stinger? There’s a lot of difference ($) between BMS and Injen for example... Injen claim to add 20hp and 18 TQ. I think it’s a lot for an intake.

Hello,
I am new to this thread. I got my hands on the new 2022 Kia Stinger GT line with the 4cy 2.5L. I went with the smaller option due to the fact that I have to drive over 100 miles to work about once a week. Since the car is so new with the new engine, I was having a problem finding air intake upgrades? Anyone have any idea on what the HP would increase to? The car is fast already but once I get past the 5 year or 60k warranty I was thinking of doing some Mod's. I also understand that these upgrades might void the warranty therefore I will most likely wait to do them.
Thank you

Contrary to popular belief. Not all intakes are the same. Yes, the open air intakes are all similar but not the exact same.

There are partially closed intakes like the Agency Power ones as well.

The stock air box is the only one that is sealed and is truly a “cold air intake”. However, the stock snorkel chokes it for performance.

At the very least you have to remove the stock snorkel from the equation. A JB4 will show some improvement even with a stock intake system but it really shines once you swap the stock air intake snorkel for an aftermarket one.

I always recommend just starting with an aftermarket snorkel with the stock air box. It isn’t too expensive and it gives surprisingly good results. Then if you want the sound you can always add an open air intake later. The aftermarket snorkels never hurt. They can only help even with an open air intake.

This is a fairly decent run for just snorkels, AEM drop in panel filters, stock air box, AP intercooler, and JB4 Map 3 with stock launch control.
