I installed my JB4 today and took the car out to log it. Check engine light came on and it's giving me code 2254. The JB4 is also reverting to map 0.

Mods are BMS intakes, Denso plugs gapped to .022, and the JB4 with fuel wires.

Any ideas how to fix this code or why it's popping up? Could the code be why it's reverting or is my 93 just that bad around here?

Thanks in advance!

I did see that for the code. I'm thinking that maybe I had a bad connection on the driver's side with the fuel wires and that's what caused the code. I redid the positaps and the connections on both sides hoping that might be the issue.

Try to buy the plug n play fuel wires so you don’t have to pierce the wires.

I have the fuel wires. I still had to positap the red wire on those however. I'm going to try doing some logs again tomorrow after I redo the connections and clear the code.

I know you have the fuel wires. I’m talking about this…

I do have those. I apologize that I didn't make that clear on the original post.

So, I've redone the positaps about 3x now and I also checked continuity on the fuel wire adapters and all is good there. I also checked the fuel wires going into the JB4 connector to make sure they are pushed in good and they are connected well it seems. I get fuel trim variances on Map 1 and Map 2 so the variance is forcing it back to Map 0 since the variance is greater than 15. When it's on Map 0, the fuel trim variance goes away and everything runs and logs out fine. I also disconnected the battery for 15 minutes to see if that made a difference...no change.

Any ideas what else I might try or could this JB4 be defective in regards to the fuel wires?

I ran jb4 but not with fuel wires....so just chipping away at it, is the jb4 on the latest firmware version? Also, what if you removed the connectors altogether and ran it without the fuel wire input?

I did update to the latest firmware right after the install.

I actually just disconnected the fuel wires about 30 minutes ago. I'm gonna do some logs without the fuel wires on Map 1 and see if the fuel trim variance goes away.

I did some Map 1 and Map 2 logs today with the fuel wires unhooked and disabled in the JB4 app.

The fuel trim variances went away and I believe the logs look pretty good on both maps. This leads me to believe the fuel wires aren't installed correctly into the JB4 or there is a bad connection between with the fuel wire that has the longest lead (bank 2 I believe).

Log is attached.

So, the logs look pretty good with the most timing corrects happening in cyl's 4/5. May check plug gap on those but variance still pretty decent on the fuel you are using.....

Not sure what to tell you on the fuel wires but it does seem they were the culprit. Should you want to re-connect, verify everything and if you get the repeat behavior after re-connecting them, disconnect and email the support crew at bms.....

Good Luck and good job with the troubleshooting....

Well, it looks like the JB4 has to be sent to BMS for them to check out. I emailed them all the logs and told them all the checks I did. I ended up having to email the info to them a second time since I was asked for all the same information over again regardless of sending it to them already.

As you can see in the attached log, I'm still getting the fuel variance in the trims. The car doesn't have the variance without the fuel wires connected. I even bought a d-sub tool to reseat the fuel wires, but that didn't work either as the attached log reflects.

I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones to have an issue.

I know these things can be unnerving at times and you just want the darn thing to work and get the car moving down the road but let Terry/Crew try to get things figured out for you. These things happen so give them a little time to find the root cause.

Better to wait and get it fixed than to leave it as is and end up causing "more expensive' damage.
