JB4 for California car

Hello all. I’ve never messed with any of my new cars in terms of chips or software upgrades. I live in California, and have always seen a lot of these mods being illegal here. And also I’m concerned with warranty disputes.

Yes I searched for threads already but the search doesn’t work on my device very well.

The chip I see most discussed here is the JB4. Is that the best bang for the buck? Easy to remove if dealer service is needed?

For those of you who live in California, have you had any trouble with these mods in terms of warranty service from Kia?

Also the description of it says there is no mileage penalty under normal driving conditions. Is that true?

what is the benefit of the Bluetooth option other than seeing the geek stats?

is it really necessary to change spark plugs for this chip?

I’ve got a 2020 GT2 AWD if that matters.

Hey guys. I have a 2020 GT2 AWD.

I have never modded a car with chips, software, etc. I don't want something that will affect warranty service or will damage the car. The JB4 seems to offer about 100hp and claims no MPG penalty under normal driving.

Is the JB4 the best bang for the buck? What is your opinion on the competition?

Is it legal in the state of California?

Do you need to replace the spark plugs?

How does it preserve the already-poor gas mileage under "normal driving"? Does it just sense gas pedal displacement?

Is the bluetooth option worth it? Or is it just geek stats to look at?

How easily is it to remove, say, in case you break down on the freeway and you are towed to a Kia dealer, and you don't want them seeing this mod?

Yes, Other than going full ecu tune, Lap 3 would be the only worthy competition but more expensive. Rest of piggy backs leave a lot to be desired or unproven yet.

Yes, properly gapped colder plugs are a must.

JB4 will work without obd connection but it will be limited in function. OBD connection is required for fuel control function and gauges to work in jb4 app. My question would be, why wouldn't you want the obd connection?
