Terry and others in the forum. i have experienced an "awkward" characteristic when using the paddle shifters and JB4......i currently have jB4 and run map2 mostly with some 3 at times. i use the paddle shifters from time to time and each time i do, under certain conditions (speed, 4500rpms, half to 3/4 throttle input), attempting to go WOT, the rpm's hang around 4K-4.5K for a moment and then the JB4 connection to my phone shuts down and the MAP resets to 0. ususally, i am in 4th,5th gear at the time it disengages. if i re-connect to jb4 and set the map back to 2 or 3, the connections comes back up and the vehicle responds as if nothing happened. i am assuming this is acting like a "safety" but not sure why it does this when using the paddle shifters??????? in Auto, i have no problems at all whether on MAP 2 or 3

Don't see how it would be related, could check JB4 mobile adapter for a solid connection. What date was the JB4 received?

thanks for the reply Terry. i have had the unit for about 3 months. the mobile adapter is working fine.......when the unit disables, i can connect right back to it and set the MAP and the unit responds immediately........my suspicion based upon how the engine reacts during shifts, is that there may be some level of compensation (or over compensation) to the "manual" inputs being received by the jb4 vs. the auto inputs? of course, your expertise trumps mine but that is the impression i get....no issues at all when i go to full auto.....

JB4 doesn't care how you shift, and nothing you do should be able to make app disconnect. So likely an issue with the JB4 mobile adapter. I'd have JB4 mobile swap that out or see if they have any other ideas for you.

Ok. i tried to recreate the issue but the roads were damp and after making multiple shifts with the paddles, the unit did not disconnect. will keep an eye on it and if the disconnect happens with any "regularity", i will contact them. No issues what so ever with how the unit is performing.

Thanks.

I have had this happen a couple times. It only seems to happen when I shift too late and the engine cuts fuel. I just assumed the JB4 was doing it prevent damage.

If there is a tuning issue JB4 will go to map0, and fill in last safety in the app for later reference. But it won't bomb out of app.

I don't think the issue originates from the jb4 but i have had the app "crash" under certain conditions and this was one....as soon as the app re-establishes connectivity to the jb4, things pick back up where they left off. The jb4 is still on the map that it was set on and it does not default to map 0
