I am new to the car modding world and I am loving my stock Stinger GT AWD. I am curious about people's experiences with JB4 piggy backs and bolt on mods in general. Is it worth it? Do dealers care about it for warranty work? Stuff like that. Like I said I'm a total noob so go easy on me!

Copypasta from another post:

I went with a JB4 first due to the dollar to horsepower gain. It was around the same price between the JB4 w/ Bluetooth and the Injen CAI. I'm currently running on Map2 with 91 Octane. The power increase is substantial and the butterfly feeling when you floor the accelerator came back. Since I haven't dyno'd my car, I'm not sure what the exact gains are but according to BMS, the gain with no modifications is about +54.5 WHP with Map2 and +63.28 WHP gain with Map2 & fuel control on what I assume is an RWD Stinger. AWD will be 5% lower but the gain is substantial.

According to BMS, with their intake (but any other brand also works), you potentially hit 420whp with 91 octanes, intake, and Map2; which is around 500HP at the crank. So I'd say that's probably the best complimentary modification setup to start with. Every other mod will not give you as big of an HP gain as a JB4 or some other piggyback tuner.

I'd also get an Oil Catch Can ASAP, it reduced the carbon buildup in the intake valves as you accumulate miles on your Stinger. I went with an ADD W1 Dual OCC, it took me about 90 minutes to install (since I'm a noob) and it's worked perfectly. Cans available here: (NEW) ADD W1 V3 - Baffled Oil Catch Can Kits

As to voided warranties, dealerships and Kia aren't legally allowed to void the manufacturer warranty due to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act; unless the mod is the contributing factor to the issue. More info here: Will aftermarket parts installed affect my factory warranty?

I hope this helps!

Welcome aboard!

The JB4 is totally worth it, their customer support, should you need it, is second to none; however before doing that you need to add catch cans to reduce the carbon build up on your intake valves. Bolt ons in general, for the Stinger, are great and will not have any interference with the warranty, as long as the installation is done properly and does not cause any mechanical issues.
The find feature here will get you most off the answers you seek.

yup get the JB4 and plugs to start! then go to intakes and catback.

If you are ready to push it even further then look at the Burger WMI kit.

Hey Gert,
It can be a bit intimidating to jump into the world of modding but rest assured you are posting the right questions. I wish more people would take this methodological approach when making modifications to their vehicle. The way I like to approach a stock vehicle is in two different ways 1. Diversify my modifications and 2. Eliminate any possible issues. When diversifying I like to add products in a balance such as a performance part ( ex. intake) and then a style part ( ex. spoiler). The way I then eliminate issues is because I am only adding a single performance part at a time making sure that if something does go wrong I know exactly where to start looking. One of the last things I do to wrap things up is to add a performance tune such as the JB4 or Uncle Chip Lap3. These tunes allow you to tie everything together giving your modifications a more synergistic feel and you gain a big boost in power. We have tons of products available and I would suggest giving us a call or email us at sales@kstingerstore.com. I would be happy to give you a discount on any products you are interested in as well. As far as warranties go we have an entire page dedicated to the subject if you click HERE.

Feel free to message me as well with any questions you might have :)

Thanks everyone! I think I'll start with a JB4 and plugs then go from there! Eventually wanna get the full bolt ons done to maximize the potential of the car without a crazy amount of money put into it. Does anyone have any experiences with aftermarket rear sway bars? I've heard they work wonders for body roll, but coilovers are the end all be all solution
