Hey folks,

Reading the forum and haven't found a thread about jacking the car up to switch out the exhaust. Theres no rear jack point and im scared to put it on the differential.

Bought an MBRP cat back and have a floor jack and 2 jack stands.

How the hell do you get this car's rear end up without ruining the sideskirt or having it come down on your head?

This is why I keep two floor jacks in my garage. An extra one doesn't cost that much and makes jacking up the car way easier. I leave the car jacked up on the floor jack. On jobs that don't require me getting under the car, that's all I do. If I do need to get under, I put jack stands right next to the floor jack support points as backup, touching the side rail but not carrying the weight of the car. In fact, I have a 3rd floor jack, a lightweight aluminum one that we take to track days and AutoXs.

Personally, I wouldn't put a floor jack on the Diff to jack up the rear of the car. The Diff is suspended off the rear subframe with two main bolts through large rubber bushings. This is to reduce NVH and to give the rear drive assembly a bit of shock absorption, so the diff will flex a bit when engine load is high. When you put the entire weight of the rear end on that diff, those rubber bushings will compress and a good amount of that stress will transfer to the two remaining SMALLER bolts, which are no at all meant to support the weight of the car.

That's just me. You do your own risk analysis and decide what you're comfortable with.

If you really have to jack up the rear with one jack, use a piece of 2x4 between the jack and the rear subframe, so it is jacking up the subframe. The 2x4 will help cushion and spread the load.
