Quick question. This has only happened a few times. After getting in the car I put the foot on the brake and it feels hard and does not feel like normal. The car won’t start. This morning it took 4 goes to get the car started. Thought it might have been the steering lock but did not change anything twisting the wheel. Pressed the button a few times with the foot off the break and it resolved. Also only has occurred first thing in the morning after being parked overnight. Any ideas.

This has happened to me as well although mine sounds slightly different. I’ve been researching this talking to Kia Certified mechanics and just this morning a super helpful guy on this forum from Kia of Muncie Indiana. You’re the only other person i’ve heard of with this same issue so I’ll keep an eye on this post. I had my GT1 a very short time and it’s happened 4 times where the break is on the floor and won’t start. I have been able to move the wheel back and forth until it lets me shift into Neutral where it then starts. Then problem disappears. When this has happened it won’t start in Park as many times as I try it. Mine too seems to happen when sitting over night except for one time. The two mechanics I talked to said because it will shift into Neutral and start they thought possibly there’s something wrong with the Neutral Safety Switch but it’s been suggested to me this morning that it could be the wheel lock and it was suggested that after shutting the car off to turn the wheel a little so ensure it locks correctly. That’s what i’ll do from now on and let you know how it goes. Please let me know if you discover what causes this. Thanks!

Which transmission do you both have? I assume it's the tranny with the joystick controller vs the t-bar handled version?

“Tranny with a joystick” . Sorry, juvinile moment. Mine’s the T handle cable with cable.

Doh! Good one!! Didn't even see It! :D Wow, ok so yours isn't the controller by wire, then? Curious indeed...

wow! This happened yesterday it took 5-10 mins to get the car started. Identical problem. Had the car 4 months.

Ok good to know guys. Keep in touch as you understand this better. Thanks!

Anyone knows what the cause is? Mine happening daily

Looking back through the thread from over 2 years ago i posted to. Shortly after the issue went away never go return. No idea what it was but it only happened when new.

Mine is having the same issues but I realized I have not put gas in the car in 4 months...
Try putting petrol in the car instead of gas .
