Why is nobody asking for any DFCO tuning...?

Literally all of our major luxury GT competitors have it from factory, why not us?

Decel fuel cut off, e.g. exhaust burbles? The flash tuners may offer it. Not sure.

Correct, Deceleration Fuel Cut Off. I would be interested in adding it (yes, I know the negatives) above the 4k RPM threshold. So as you came off of WOT from 6k+ down to 4k or so it would pop and crack.

Is that not something that you are trying to figure out?

No, we can't change injection timing with the JB4 nor would we want to. You have to do that in the flash directly.

So you are not monitoring timing and fuel tables with the JB4?

Of course we are. But we're not going to intercept and alter fuel injection pulses. Dangerous stuff to start with and certainly not something we'd ever do with a piggyback.

Just checking! Your reply made me think otherwise, sorry.

I am quite shocked that in searching the forum I found nobody had mentioned this before.

So since I have your attention @Terry@BMS can you clear up something for me regarding your mapping on V8, because it seems like the more and more I cross-reference sites for information on the JB4 the more convoluted the info gets.

On a COMPLETELY stock car, with readily accessible 93 octane fueling options, what is the most aggressive tune that can be run? Some places say map 2, some 3 and some places say map 5 if you can do e30 (which I can). Can you please take a few to break it down from the horses mouth sort of speak.

He’s likely to tell you to log map 2 and send it in. If it’s good turn up to Map 3, repeat. Find the limit then back down a bit.

Map 5 is unlikely to be safe on a totally stock car.

Sorry no psychic powers here. Depends on the car, specific fuel used, climate, elevation, etc. We have basic use guidelines in the JB4 thread though: Kia & Hyundai JB4 - N54Tech.com - International Turbo Racing Discussion

Thanks Terry. What kind of octane numbers (assuming boostane added to pump) are you looking for to run map 3? 93? 94? 95? Just trying to figure out cost vs. trying to mix E30 :-)

Cheapest Method is E-30. You at least want 95 octane to run map 3.

You can do like 4 gallons of E85 and fill up with 93 octane.

There are E85 calculators online to get the desired octane.

Regardless of octane always log the info to see what is going on with the car when you WOT.

With only 91 octane at the pump, 4 gal E85 to 10 gal 91 is E31 / 95 octane (or: 1 gal E85 to 2.5 gal 91). Problem is - even if I can do this every time (a bit of a pain to ensure I get just the right mix, since I don't want to go OVER E31), my wife will NEVER go for it when she's driving. But, if I tell her "throw this 3oz bottle of gas enhancer into the tank first if you fill up", that's a lot easier to pull off.. I can even throw in the boostane at home to overload the existing tank, and it will more or less work if the drive isn't too far to the gas station. And, if you throw in a bit too much, oh well - octane is 96 or 97 or 98 for one tank, no big deal. No problems with exceeding E30 / fuel system capacity.

Until we can just fill up with E85 straight (which we do for her FF Pentastar), using something like boostane seems safer, even if more expensive.. No risk of OVER-doing it and starving the fuel system. And a bit less intrusive than WMI.

Once the word “wife” is mentioned that is enough said lol.

I fully understand we’re you are coming from and agree with you. I personally have E85 available everywhere were I live.

I always use 93 octane and run map 2. I have never used map 3 or map 5 on the streets. When the wife drives I set it to map 0. I have only used map 3 and map 5 at the track.

Well, if we HAD 93, that wouldn't be as much of an issue.. And, given that I'm planning on keeping the LGT, the number of times of wife needing to fill up the car will be small. Just don't want to blow stuff up..

You don't have 93 were you are?

Not to derail the derailed thread but LGT as in Legacy GT? What year? I came from '10

Back to the derailed thread I'd make sure to get the BT module and be prepared to nock the tune back to 1 prior to wife fill up times.

91 everywhere here, can selectively get Sunoco 94

I understand.

Well, there's one station way over somewhere that sells >91, like 93, 95, 99 and 103 or something for $8/gallon.. Other than that, 91 all throughout the most populous state in the union.. E85 is available just around the corner, though..

'05 Legacy GT wagon. Bunch of mods. Unfortunately, won't last forever..

As for the BT, yeah - my question about "is it safe to turn E30 back to map 0" was never answered.. I may have to ask again.
