So, I am learning my new Stinger has its own personality. Latest item. The ISG is getting confused when parking. I pull in to park, as I stop, the engine turns off, before I get a moment to put it in Park. And the shifting to Park triggers the engine back on! The car is a month old. Thoughts.

Wondering how you to expect it to know you planned to park when you came to a stop, vs. just coming to a stop. Sounds like the same thing.

There usually is or was more of a lag, but maybe it should not turn on when being put in Park?

Just turn ISG OFF. I never drive with it. So, this never happens except on those rare occasions when something distracts me after starting the car and I fail to turn ISG OFF; usually the reminder is exactly what you described, as I pull into a parking spot and apply the brake. Annoying little quirk. When I want my engine off I'll do it myself, thank you.:P

The car can't be confused because all it can see is that the car is coming to a stop. I used to just hit the button to turn it off when entering a parking lot, but more recently I realized that an engineer should have programmed the shifter release button with a soft trigger that disables ISG when pressed. Most of the time when pulling into a parking spot, my timing between braking, coming to a stop, and pressing the shifter release are well before ISG kicks in.

The other thing is that they could have added a 2 second delay which is more than enough to stop and then shift into park before ISG kicks in. Either way, it's one button, it's pretty easy to press just before parking, and it just became a habit after awhile because every now and then that would also happen to me and likely tons of others (including in other cars made by other manufacturers with the same feature).

Enable auto hold. Shift to park without pressing the brake pedal. The engine won’t turn back on unless you press the start button

This happens to me all the time. I have a habit of shifting to neutral, engaging the parking brake, lifting off the brake, and shifting to park. When in neutral, the car shuts down and restarts on shift to park.

Jeez. All I do is hit the start/stop button, then get out.

I can easily manipulate ISG activation:
Firm amount of pressure I apply to the brakes, activates ISG
Light pressure on brakes (barely enough to stop), no ISG activation

This is completely normal so unless you take the advice of others already offered in this thread, get used to it. It is why, as Merlin said, turning off the ISG is just part of my start-up routine when I get in the car. Mine is never active unless I get distracted upon entering the car. Good luck.

It kind of makes sense - it ensures you don't accidentally leave the car "running" after shifting into park.

Funny but true story.......used to work with a guy who was so intense and focused (not on his car) that he got back from lunch and left his car running. It was still running (and still there) when he went out to leave for home at 5pm. Lol
