Is this spottiness normal?

I just got my new 2019 GT Stinger a few days ago (LOVING IT) in Panthera Metal. I noticed later the chrome accents have this spottiness and discoloration. I assume this isn't normal. I wasn't sure if anyone knew whether this just needed to be cleaned using a certain product or if these need to be replaced by the dealer. I took it through a car wash yesterday which did not get rid of this. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it is normal. I clean mine with a soft micro fibre cloth, with or without detailing spray. You can also spray a little windex on a cloth and clean it.

That is water spotting. Occurs when water dries off on the chrome parts. Automatic car washes will not get that off.
You need to hand wash it and apply some protection (with water repellency capabilities) in order to prevent it from happening.

Try Meg's cleaner wax , it removes the spots and repells water to keep them away ! Its my go to for all the little things that get on the paint between full detailing .

Thank you all for the explanation and suggestions. Glad to know it's not a defect and I just need to clean it properly. Thanks!

It appears RainX, like what you would put on your windshield, helps. Can't say definitively but I tried it and it seems to so I'm going to expand my experiment. The trim on the nose will look like crap if not treated somehow.

As attractive as it is, I almost wish they hadn't gone that route because of this issue, and also the fact the skipped some parts like the hood vents.

Just try the Megs Cleaner Wax , its almost the perfect product for this issue ..................

You can get water spot remover for cars. Afterwards, id put a good sealant on and forget about it.

Clearcoat (clear bra) protect all that stuff along with the front fascia and hood.....no more spots or chips...will look like as shiny as a diamond in a goats azz ...you can do the front and part of the hood for less than a grand....or go big....lol and do the full hood and A pillars too :) Wash

If a wash and cleaning doesn't solve it, it might be a defect. I had to get the trim on the hatch area replaced as there were some spots on it that could not be cleaned, this was on both sides. With it being a new car, have it checked out by the dealer to see if it needs to be replaced.

Of note, there are Genesis G80 owners with similar complaints about their dark chrome trim. It might be something with this material?

Not a defect, just makes minor spots really show up..

I gave up trying to keep the black chrome spot free. Got it wrapped with a clear bra. No spots ever again...always shiny.

If you have the bills to spend on mods lets say.....and you want to keep the looks brand spankin new....this is the item to do.
What makes this car so kewl I think is the front fascia and the black chrome....and the front fascia is considerable ....I saw a stinger on a forum that had a frontal pic...and there were many chips in the fascia...let me tell ya I got a lil knot in my tummy from looking at that nice car that now looks like a ***** thats when I went and got mine cleared....it looks better than when it was on the showroom floor. no more water spots....so if you can swing it....do it :) Wash
