Is the Kia Stinger a "50 state" emission compliant vehicle?

Some new cars are "50 state" smog wise. Is the Stinger V6?
Good question. I'm bumping this post up as it was posted very early this morning and may get lost amongst the many discussions we have today... Does anyone have the answer to this question?

Thanks for the bump, Paisan. Folks in cali or other cali emission states would need to know, if they wish to buy out of state and register at home.

Are you saying they bought Stingers out of cali and successfully registered them in ca.? Unit shipped to cali (by KIA) of course are ca. compliant.

I am asking if ALL Stingers sold in the USA are ca. compliant IE "50 State".

Oh I understand now. I’m not sure.

Find the emission disclosure sticker in the engine compartment. I think it's stuck to the underside of the hood on the stinger. It will either say something like 'Meets Federal EPA requirements for 2018 model year' or 'Meets Federal EPA and California requirements for 2018 model year'. If it's the former, it's 49 state legal, if it's the latter, it's 50 state legal. Manufacturers today typically make all the cars they sell 50 state legal right out of the box so that they only have to make one version...cheaper and easier. On top of that, emission systems don't have the detrimental effects to performance that they did in the 1970s and 80s so there's really no benefit to not just making everything CA compliant.

It does no good for me to look at a cali emission cert label, the question is are the 49 state cars, cali legal But I will look again, maybe this weekend.

Cars are either 49 state legal (Fedral) or 50 state legal (California).

I checked mine this morning and it is California certified but sold new in Colorado. Based on that and my experience the conclusion that I draw is that all Stingers are California certified. As I mentioned previously, most new car models meet California requirements because there's no real need to produce Cali and non Cali versions anymore; emission systems don't have the detrimental effect to performance that they once did.
