Is the Canadian exhaust note the same as the US?

I'm wondering if the Canadian Stingers have the same exhaust note as in the US. Word on the street around here seems to suggest that the Aussie Stingers have the loudest exhausts, but I was wondering if my Canadian-sourced Stinger is any different than the American one in that regard. Does anyone know?

That’s a good question, the Australian Stinger sounds bad@$$

Even the US Stinger has no exhaust sound but the piped in fake engine sound is bad@$$

I would say yes to that but I do not have a DB reader to do a test on it and test each setting on the CDN one's. Most of the exhaust settings are through the audio system anyway. Best way to hear real and raw is to change out the system to an aftermarket exhaust if you want to hear 'real' sound.

I don’t believe Canada has the same. My understanding is that the US is the only market that got the more aggressive exhaust. Australia’s stock exhaust is much quieter than US version, but they were lucky enough to get a bi-modal option which is louder than all available.

Yes, Kia knew Americans want more exhaust sound.

The bi-modal Kia exhaust is the sound I want.

I'm guessing it will be a factory option on the 2019 models, plus new trans logic to hold gears in manual mode.

So, to be clear: If I parked my Canadian GT Limited next to an American GT2, they would sound different? :D

Yes if Kia’s advertising was correct they would. But the real question is how you got your Canadian Stinger in America?!?;)

In a nutshell...I just called the place in Canada up, went out there to check it out, and bought the car! :D

It wasn't the fastest car-buying process ever...but totally worth the wait. And it can be done!

So can you just buy it in Canada and drive across the border and home?

And would there be any issues servicing it in the US?

Sort of. If you don't get the vehicle inported through an importer and opt to drive it across yourself, you need to pay any applicable GST/PST/HST (depending on the province). If you use an importer, there's a bill of lading, and you don't need to pay Canadian tax (which makes sense, since I'm American and don't use any Canadian public services). It's the standard process for importing a vehicle, if you're at all familiar with that.

Servicing should be the same as the American one, although since Kia suggests the Canadian warranty isn't honored in the US if the vehicle is repatriated there, you may want to consider an aftermarket warranty like I did for additional peace of mind (from Gold Standard Automotive Network).

Even with all of those costs factored in, it made a lot more sense for me to do that than buy one locally. Plus, Canada is a beautiful place to visit!

Did you get the GT2? Cause from what I hear the Canadian Stinger has more features then the US and cost less. If that’s true, you got a good deal.

Yup! It's the GT Limited, which is most like the American GT2. (Except a bit better-equipped, as you noted.)

Sweet, yeah I was reading that KIA only sent 150 Stingers to Canada, maybe that’s why it’s the GT Limited. Now we just have to wait for your sound test.
