So I was just reading in another thread (1/4 mile thread) that forums are "dead." I had no idea and have been visiting forums for the past several years to get information from owners and the community on various platforms. Since it seems I am way out of the loop, where does everyone get their information from?

Honestly, IDK where else I would get my information. The participants of this site have been super knowledgeable, engaging, and helpful when looking to get any info about the car; pre-purchase, stock, and aftermarket.
Otherwise, the r/stingergt subreddit is kind of lame (quiet) and r/kia is an SUV circle jerk. I deleted Facebook. I use Instagram to view beauty shots of people's mods and get ideas.
This forum is definitely pretty active but I think that's because it's a brand new platform. Forums do seem to be getting quieter though, with other brands that I'm in or have been in.
I'm on this one most often but Google searches have sent me to another forum a couple times.
If it weren't for this forum I probably would have already dumped the Stinger because of the unacceptably noisy sunroof. If it weren't for some users here offering feedback and giving light at the end of the tunnel, I'd be in a different car by now.

Forums are dying if compared to 10+ years ago. The reason this forum is so active (other than the Stinger being relatively new) is because so many of us are old(er). I'm sure the Corvette forums are also very active--because most of the owners are dinosaurs.
What I found more interesting than his post about forums being dead is that he followed up by saying his company prefers Facebook. Facebook is another large group of old(er) people, in the verge of mirroring the demographics of your typical Corvette/Stinger forum.
Hey now ! I had to chew another nitroglycerin pill after reading that....just got back from my Endro Doc...lookin good Billy Ray....told him to check my prostate please...He sez " but Wash you aint got one to check" I told him to check anyways...."just for old times sake ..I ate my Wheaties for breakfast, and im feeling pretty frisky" Wash
with all the crap i read and ppl i communicate with. i would say that forums are dying. Slack chat and Discord are more popular. but like mentioned earlier... i think most people here are older, plus, those 2 previous programs are for chatting. any info is baiscally gone after an hour. for cars, forums are better.
I am a performance > glamour sort of person so many FB and IG posts are worthless to me.
I really hate that Facebook groups are "replacing" structured forums for information sharing.
Both platforms have their benefits but it is so much easier to find and glean information from a forum by searching through the organized topics.
FB is a cluster. No organization. Poor search. 80 to 100 posts a day in some of my groups. Many posts are asking the same question as yesterday or even 2 hours ago.
So many times the FB groups irk me because people ask questions that you can search for and find answers to. Be it searching the FB group or Google. The worst is when people want others to do the leg work for them. Asking peoples opinions is one thing, "Where can I get a left headlight for a GT1, what is the price, and what is the part number?" (Made up example) is quite another.
I applaud the patient ones that can answer the genuine clueless newbys over and over again.
Totally agree, WildBill - I've always been "go before show".. My cars have often looked, um, below average. However, I can assure you, they've always been faster than stock..

I am sure that a lot of forums have died as communities have moved to Facebook.
But that's some, not all.
I'm a member of a number of community groups, most of which have both forums and Facebook. For some of them, Facebook has absolutely killed their forums (to the point where they're only maintained as a historical record). Others have barely any Facebook activity at all.
There are lots of reasons for why different groups have different outcomes, but I'm pretty sure membership demographic is a large part of it, age in particular.
