Hey guys! I would really like some advice and opinion on what to do in my situation and see if my reason for being disappointed is perfectly reasonable.

I am a new Stinger GT Limited owner in Alberta. I have been driving for about 3 weeks and have about 1k on it so far. During the 3 weeks of driving, I have not been a happy driver of this beautiful car. Since the first week until now, I feel as though my car is "loose" and not tightened up perfectly. I am hearing all sorts of rattling, shaking, and creaking. I am hearing it from all doors, hatch, near my brakes, and bottom of windshield. I can also hear from somewhere wind leaking through but I cannot identify where. It seems that every turn and bump I go over, it feels like the car is about to break or something is going to detach. I thought I was just paranoid and OCD at first but man this has been messing with my head for so long and I am getting tired of it.

Now you are probably wondering, why don't I go to the dealership? Well, let's just say I don't trust these guys one bit. I was a previous owner of an optima and long story short, they practically ruined my car and ruined the interior. They eventually admitted their mistake and I was able to get an UNREAL deal for my trade in and the current Stinger. I was very hesitant on even purchasing another car from them but it was a deal that I could not pass and they recently was bought out (not surprisingly) and replaced many of their staffs. I was willing to give them another try, but now that I am in this situation, I am once again skeptical.

I am pretty much limited to having the car taken a look at by the dealer but I am so afraid of them ruining the car or telling me "could not replicate the problem, therefore will not fix" as they did previously. I am very frustrated that I am even in this situation and that I am the unlucky few that ended up with this mess.

What do you all think? Anything that I can do to ensure that I can trust these guys and make sure they diagnose the problem and fix it without damaging anything? Am I being way over my head?

Thank you guys for listening to my rant!!!

I understand once bitten, twice shy. If at all possible & practical I would take it to another Kia Dealer & tell them your issue.
If not go back to your dealer & get everyone of authority involved, eg: Dealer Principle, Sales & Service Managers if not Kia Canada.

You need to give the dealer a chance to respond, first. Explain the issues you have described and ask them what they can do about it. Keep records of every conversation, who it was with, the date and time, and what was discussed. Take the service manager for a spin and point out the specific concerns you have. If they acknowledge and can address your problems, great! If not, be sure that their position is stated clearly on the work order when you pick the car up from them, after having them look it over. If the paperwork doesn't agree with what you are being told, have them revise it before you sign it.

If you can't get anywhere with the dealer, then take it to the next level and contact Kia Canada. You'll have full records and documentation supporting your position, and will have shown good faith in giving the dealer a chance to resolve it. Kia won't do much, if anything, for you unless you've tried to work with the dealer first.

As for the concerns you describe, have a look around on here as there is a wealth of good information - the dealers have a Kia issued fix they can apply to tighten up and relieve hatchback noises, for example. I haven't heard anyone describe a car that feels like 'it's going to break', but I also haven't had any of the concerns you mention.

Good luck, and hope you get things resolved soon. They really are a great car!

I dont like going to the dealer also. If I can avoid them I will. I've found three noises and I fix 2. For the he rear hatch i just added felt tape to the bump stop and it's totally gone. The 2nd is behind the fender. If you open the door and look between the edge of the door and where it meets the front fender you'll see some sound deadening foam. Just carefully wedge your hand in there and move them around. The plastic is sticking to the fender and that's why it's making that "wind" noise. Now the 3rd is behind the passenger dash and it sounds like "buzzing". It only happens when I'm behind the wheel. When I let my wife drive and I listen theres nothing.

Hatch rattle was a standard issue and very well documented and should be fixed with your first 3000km inspection. You shouldn't have to ask. All dealers will know this one. Its warrantable.

Other issues have been mentioned within this forum. Use the search magnifying glass tool with key word search. Good luck.

Take it back and have it checked. If you can get some videos of the issue, get someone to drive or to do the video while you drive so you have some proof they can see. That way they can’t come up with, “we couldn’t duplicate the issue.”

You know my car is a feb 2018 build and it’s as quiet as a mouse no rattles.

So is mine quiet but they changed the possibly offending hatch parts as a matter of course even though i had no issues. It was part of Kia Aust bullet in. Ps let us know how you go with C & C this Sunday? You may see the Rafa:p?

Go find short route near to the dealer where you can replicate some of the issues every time, get one of the service folks and drive to show the problem, then drive another Stinger GT and see if that one does it as well.

i agree that you need to contact the dealer first and try and replicate the issues with a tech or service mgr BUT you must call Kia Canada and start a file with them .............the more of us on the file the quicker they will find the fix , I really think the sunroofs are a big part of ther problem

That is a "fabulous" rant! ;) One of the most cogent I have come across. I put myself in your car, and here's what I would do: Go to the dealership and behave exactly as you feel (politely, of course). Require their highest ranking service rep to go with you for a ride in your car. Then, immediately go for a ride in another Stinger from their lot, and if necessary (for you) a second test ride in another Stinger. Be making notes as you go; have your checklist of ills and annoyances observed in your Stinger to compare to. Check off the list as you go. Do the test drives over the exact same stretch of road. Arrange for this ahead of time, so that the dealership will accommodate you. If they will not, if they blow you off, then find a different Kia dealership to work with.

Good luck, and may fortune smile upon you! Amen!

Same build date for me. Luck us.

I have an interior rattle in the panel between the front and back left door, an external rattle from the left side (cannot pinpoint where exactly) and a brake squeak. I have video recorded two of the problems as my dealer also told me in my 3k check they couldn't replicate any of the problems. I feel I'm also going to have issues getting them to fix something they say they cant find a problem with. I had a similar issue with my Jeep (don't get me started on THAT fiasco). The rattles are doing my head in BUT I love the car to pieces.

I'm sorry you are experiencing so many problems. What happened to professionalism and real service? I hope you are able to rectify your problems.
