Looked at a Stinger yesterday and was quite impressed. I have had Z06’s, Dodge Viper and a Nissan GTR. As a older man and wanting more comfort and possibly hit a track day the stinger looks good. I think so or am I way off? 4 doors, heavy, etc?

I looked of course at what the dealership wanted to sale me and it was a 2022 GT1 white with Napa or red interior. Got the price down in the mid 40’s. But there was a GT2 sitting there that was a dark grey and hey just said something like it was the P-Line version but all badges on back said GT I believe that was it.

Then they had one in the showroom that was white and modded out at almost 700hp and scorpion package at 70G’s. I looked up mods and they claim to have 16K on that one in aftermarket parts and it came with NO WARRANTY. But I looked up the mods they had listed and I could get most of them for a lot less but no way up to 700hp maybe 550 or so RWHP. So looking for input if I should buy a stinger 2022 model the V6 of course, which one and what should pricing be? Thanks

Howdy and welcome.

$70K for a Stinger?! No way. And I would now be very concerned about that dealership's offerings and tactics.

The Stinger is no track car. But it was fleshed out at the Nürburgring, and it is fast, and beats 90% of the cars out there off the line at stop lights (AWD version). As far as handling goes: as you say, big heavy car, but it is nimble. Put aftermarket sway bars on it and you retain the comfortable ride and obtain steering feedback and handling feel at the same time. There are quite a few drivers on here who enjoy their track days in the Stinger. (I'm not one of them, yet, but I can daydream.)

That said, I would never have bought a new car at all if it didn't possess the practicality of the Stinger. The liftback and cargo space is a strong selling point with me. The looks of the car from all angles, the performance and comfort, the "soundroom" quality of the Harman Kardon stereo, the overall feeling of quality, at thousands of dollars less than the competition, the Gran Turismo focus: all of this means that the Stinger is everything it was designed to be: a great road trip car that you arrive at the end of the day feeling whole instead of achy and exhausted. And, it passes fast! :D

Never buy a modded car unless you know exactly what you are getting into.

Funny you mention that car, someone posted about it recently.

I wouldn't buy that car with your money.

From what I see here most are paying slightly under to slightly over MSRP for new Stingers. I don't feel like the Stinger is worth $57k but that's a personal opinion. If you're set on getting a Stinger for track duty I'd recommend a used base GT or if you prefer new a GT1 (interestingly, with the current market a used GT will probably cost close to what a new GT1 does).

Well I bought one today. A 2022 White with red leather GT1. Sticker was 52K but I walked out and went and ate lunch and waited on the call. It came before I finished lunch and I got it for $44200 OTD and I am getting my check from KIA for $300 for my military service. I have a 7 yr old and didnt get in until almost 11 and she waited up to go for a ride. I think it would be fun to take it to a couple HPDI Events or track days a couple times a year. I am definitely going to add the cold air intakes and the scoops in the front grill and a piggy back type tune. Something about the car is just sharp and I had to do it. I felt the GT1 was the Best Buy. I had a 2003 Vette ZOS with nothing special for mods and it made the best track car I have ever had. Any suggestions on the tune and air intakes with scopes that mount up in the front grill would be appreciated. I will post some pics as soon as I can take some pics. They had a stinger “specialist” that turned out to be a pretty cool guy and he let me drive his and there was a world of difference with the stuff I mentioned above but a comment was mad if I change exhaust it would void my warranty. IS that true? I am located in the Mooresville, NC anyone Let me know.

Please remove your phone number. You're inviting annoyances by giving the interwebz that type of information.

Catback won't effect your warranty.

Congrats on the whip! That's about what I paid for my GT1 four years ago. You got a good deal.

Congrats on getting your Stinger! Got mine for about the same price after I told them I wanted it in red and I could wait for a custom order through my local dealer.
