As you can tell from the title, I've gotten caught in the trap of the Kia Stinger :D. I still have some questions left, though, and I think it'd be best to ask the ones that use the car everyday: Should I wait for the MY19 Stingers? Are there any notable issues that would make a wait worth it so that I get a more polished car? Plus, I'm a little stuck on whether or not I should take the jump to the GT2. Are the extra tech, mechanical differences, seats, and leather worth that extra 6 grand over a fully equipped GT1?

I think you may not get the promotions (i.e. big lease cash on the GT2) in 2019 as you can get in 2018. Then again, the 2019 will be a model year newer. Be focused more on your person needs and reality for the timing, not the car. There will likely be nominal differences between 2018 and 2019.

To me, the differences between the GT2 and GT weren't enough to justify the 12K difference. I like blind spot monitors and maybe the HK stereo, but those aren't worth it to me. I would turn off all those LKA and adaptive cruise anyway. I have a convertible to drive when I want the air coming through. It's definitely a personal thing on which features are important to you.

the mrs and i got the gt. the yellows all were either the gt or the gt2. there was a rumor from our salesman that there was a gt1, but that turned out to be false. prefer the rwd, 400 lbs lighter, the tech is enough for us. if we need anything more, we can always get aftermarket items. i would have loved the ventilated seats, because they are the greatest invention since electric guitars were made to annoy mother-in-laws. nappa leather, had that in several cars, is great but it will wear faster. otherwise, whichever you choose, even if it is the 2.0, you will be getting a great car.
