Hello everyone. I was recently thinking about purchasing snorkels and a Mishimoto intercooler for my next mods. If I went with BMS WMI and snorkels instead is there really a need for an intercooler? Would it shave off a .1 on the quarter mile even with WMI, snorkels and other mods I already have on the car?
From what I've read WMI doesn't add any hp/torque itself but opens up the car to more power gains and allows you to use more aggressive maps (7) on the JB4?

I'm planning to get an intercooler once I get my stimulus check lol. It is never overkill.

Yes, WMI can reduce intake temperatures considerably and it also acts to increase the equivalent Octane of the fuel. However, a better intercooler like the Mishimoto can reduce temperatures significantly and also reduce the pressure drop that larger intercoolers typically have.

The best answer is that you should do both especially if you are doing multiple passes in the heat. With an upgraded intercooler and WMI you can make massive power consistently throughout the day.

Now, if you could only do one of those two things it becomes a more difficult question. The WMI gives you instant benefits in increased horsepower and lower IATs. However, the intercooler can give you some increased power but also give you consistently lower IATs over many passes.

The biggest issue is that the Mishimoto intercoolers are on serious backlog. Basically you won’t get a brand new one until it is cold again. You can get the WMI right now.

I would say get the WMI now. If you find that you aren’t getting the power consistently across the full day of passes then get on the waiting list for the Mishimoto intercooler as well.

Remember, you have an intercooler already that is fairly decent. You don’t have WMI right now. Add what you don’t have and then upgrade what you already do have later.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Dang, Why did this hit me like a motivational quote or something. These are some wise words!

Thank you.

Of note, a WMI will provide valve cleaning that is lacking in GDI engines.

Power gains "not seen" through WMI is usually because the blend is 50/50 water/meth. Increase of methanol will bump the power up.

I am pretty happy with my Mishimoto kit. Have had a meth kit but didn't install it yet.

I really like the Mishimoto Intercooler but it is just so hard to get. Their backlog is for months and it is rather expensive.

The Agency Intercoolers just came back in stock so I grabbed one of those instead.

By any chance do any of you know what the maximum horse power the Mishimoto core is rated at?
