I've been searching a while now and I cant really find the answer I'm looking for. What I'm trying to find out is that is there any discernable gains with the AEM over BMS intake. I've read the sound is different but nothing really on gains. The BMS in the 450hp Kit costs $1099 (which I am going to buy all that stuff anyway). Would it be worth it to spend the extra money and buy the stuff separately and get the AEM? Buying separately its about $1238.
Thanks for any input

I personally don't think you'd see much difference between the AEM and the BMS intakes especially if you're pulling the trigger on the 450hp kit. Also of note is that the dyno testing for that kit was done with the BMS intake in place but I can't say that the AEM might not yield a couple more HP but the difference would be negligible.

I don't think it matters; some of them have better shielding from heat (AEM, K/N, Stillen) and some look better (Injen/ Johhny Tig). Should all have similar gains, which isn't too much from what I understand.

Thank You guys, That's what I was thinking but I didn't know for sure. I'm very new to the stinger world. I just like the look of the AEM over the BMS but I'm not going to spend ~$129 just for looks and very minimal difference in gains.

Bought my AEM from someone on here. Makes some nice noises when you're accelerating. Biggest thing with intakes is they all need snorkels to actually do something since the stock inlets are garbage.

You definitely won't see a big difference in performance or power between them.

However, if you are interested in an intake that comes with some style options and a nano filter I would suggest looking at

the Injen Cold Air Intake Kit.

If the price is the issue, I would be glad to give you a discount and help offset that for you a bit as well.

Could you PM me? I guess we new guys cant start a PM yet. Thank You

I am by no means an expert but these are the reasons I went with the AEM intakes based on my research:
  • Ease of install and filter maintenance
  • Price
  • Good heat shielding
  • Reduced heat soak vs a metallic intake pipe
When the temperatures dropped this Fall, the increase in performance was notable. There is no doubt in my mind that temperature makes a substantial difference.

That's what I found as well, but that doesn't make it worth it to me to spend the extra money for maybe a couple HP

My original plan was to install both the Stillen intakes and exhaust because that is sold as the GT400 package by some dealerships as a +35hp gain. It has always been my understanding that you need both to improve output. There is also the sound and appearance benefit but if you are truly looking for the most bang for your buck in terms of upgrades then I'd recommend upgrading the swaybars.

Has anyone tested IATs between different brands and the stock air box?

I currently have panel AEMs but considering going to BMS or AEM systems.

I'd like to know that too. I'm considering adding the AEM filters to the stock airboxes and if there's a boost in performance that would be cool.
