What have you been told?
In Dallas, I've been told later this year but that's what everyone vaguely says. Another dealer gave me a more specific response saying they won't be for sale until Jan 2018 for the interest of nationwide dealer stock and Kia wanting good year over year sales numbers etc. Which doesn't make sense either since most 2018's come out in 2017....and they trickle across dealers nationwide as they arrive. I'm sure SoCal will get them first as Kia America is based in Irvine.

I'm told end of Aug at earliest or likely Sept. Most dealers should be able to tell you at least 30 days ahead of time if they're expecting any--through the inventory mgr.
Regardless of late-'17 or early-'18 availability, is anyone expecting to pay less than MSRP? I find it hard to believe there'd be mark-up, given the lingering perception of KIA as a low-end car manufacturer, but I also doubt there's going to be any surplus of vehicles on the lot, at least initially.

All dealers I spoke with said Kia traditionally doesn't do markups and they don't plan to. Hoping to get a great buying experience gaining a Panamera like car for the Kia price. All articles on the web have virtually nothing negative to say with many expectations exceeded on performance and design.
This is an instance where I hope I'll be proven wrong.
Looking at all the coverage and buzz about the Stinger for the last five months, I wonder if Kia has been handling buyer expectations well. Some appealing factors - design engineering by BMW's Biermann; styling and interior by Audi's Guillame; a widening perception that BMW cars are overly engineered with unreliable electronics; the cost of buying and owning BMW - have made a large number of potential buyers eager to see and buy the Stinger. Kia must be aware, if they gauge the market competently, that there is a great deal of pent up demand for the Stinger.
So, why no information with the dealers? Kia can't give even a hint of release dates? By November this year, there will be a new BMWs, a new generation Honda Accord, and probably others. My feeling is that Kia is not managing buyer expectations so that people will remain interested. At the rate Kia is going with the Stinger, I, a long time BMW buyer, will probably buy the G01 generation BMW X3 coming out in a few weeks. Yes, there is no equivalence here, but BMW is expert at putting out information that keeps buyers hooked.

I think "supply" may be a real issue and perhaps the part of the reason key information releases (Detroit debut, then Winter Testing, then the Nurburgring test drives) have been staged. I actually do also think the hype to reality trickle feed is being done purposefully well.

My local dealer told me yesterday that he is expecting an email next week informing him when they'll be taking delivery of the 2 stingers they have on order, and that I'll be the first to know after him.

I wonder if that is the demo models they reportedly had to pay to receive, or if it's an actual allotment for sale. I'm leaning toward the demos, since we haven't seen any leaks about ordering info yet. Would be great to get a better understanding of this program. I'm loathe to contact a dealer at this point, since they rarely seem to have any advance knowledge.

well, I did take what he said with a grain of salt (especially after reading everything on here and other places about availability, or, lack of information specifically). However, if you want to believe what he said, they have 2 coming, both GT, trim level unknown, color unknown, but one will be RWD, and other AWD.
I'll preface this by saying I've bought 3 cars from them over the past few years (2 new and 1 used), and he called me to inform me of this. He said they have a deal set in place now, to trade one of my current cars in, and procure one of the 2 stingers.
as much as I'd love to believe it, I do have my doubts. They have always treated me well in the past, sometimes more than expected, but still.

They should at least put a configuration tool on the website. Let us start looking at colors and options.
agreed. I'm honestly about a gnat's whisker away from buying a new 1le camaro ss, and this is the only car kinda making me hold back a bit. And only because I kinda have a soft spot for awd twin turbo v6's (I come from a heavily modded 3000gt vr-4)

I've only seen videos so far, but I like what I see. I'm just hoping my recent knee surgery won't keep me from the manual (this is one of the main reasons I'm liking the auto in the stinger as well)
