I was looking at Stingers after deciding that I did not want to pursue S5's due to cost of ownership and stingy included tech.

The red Stingers look great! But I need to see one in person. I searched AT for the nearest one (no pics) and arranged a test drive at the dealership.

2 hours later, I'm signing my life away...

What happened? Was the colour too good? Was the mileage too low? Did they flirt and give me a reasonable trade in value for my old Type R? Maybe it was all three.

They did talk me into colour protection only because of all the bad quality paint issues I keep reading about.

So I went back today to pick her up. Just need to decide on a name.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Stinger! What did the Stinger replace for you? I'm glad you found us. :)

I replaced my 2011 Civic Type R. I had it for 6 years and I really loved it! But it was reaching 100k miles and I wanted to get a new car before then. I actually just rolled over 100k on the way to the dealer.

This car is definitely much more boring to drive but at my age I should be appreciating the comfort and power more. Driving home with cruise control and LCAS was a dream, did not feel fatigued at all. I do need to start working out my left leg so it won't wither away

Hey @felixthemaster,
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your Stinger!

Was your Type-R modified?
Just a mid resonator delete (due to rust) and aesthetic mods like sequential indicators and carbon covers for the door handle and filler cap. Also got the wheels in amethyst gray. This is basically what I want to do with the stinger. Change all the chrome to black (glossy?). Keep true to the black and red theme.

Thanks everyone, I just drove the Stinger on the back roads in sports mode and it is a beast that I cannot handle yet! The brakes are phenomenal... I am speechless how good they are. Also the turning radius is heaps better than the old car.

I will miss hitting VTEC and bouncing off the rev limiter though

That sounds like a great plan. Shipping to the UK isn't always the cheapest, but if you see anything on our website that calls out to you, just reach out to me, and I can help you out with a discount!

I'm glad to hear about the brakes as usually I hear the opposite, are they stock?

Sure I'll have a look. Already have a vision and the availability of mods for this car is vas

They are stock I believe. Perhaps my old brakes on the type R are so bad that this feels amazing?

I went from 70 to 20 before a sharp turn faster than I could think. You can feel the weight of the car, but good tyres and brakes make up for it. Waiting for these bridgestones to wear so I put on some Goodyears or Michellins.

Love the color...for obvious reasons.

Ah, the fatal test drive.

Paint is good quality. Just keep it clean. The only Stinger colour that had issues was Sunset Yellow, and KIA took care of anyone who bought one of those rarities.

What is "colour protection"? Is that your way of saying touchup? When I bought my Stinger over seven years ago, I was talked into a "paint protection" plan that would allow for touchup on any blem/attrition not bigger than a business card. I never used it. Waste of money. I should have put it toward the PPF that I had installed three months later. Hah.

I don't see how the Stinger could be less fun than some FWD gadabout. Is your Hi Chroma Red AWD or RWD?

Rev limiter, heh. It is incredibly easy to "bounce" off the red line in a Stinger. Just hit the kickdown switch and let the car do the rest, it knows how and when to shift.

And, be careful out there. It took me a good three years to finally get acclimated to the 3.3L power and even use the kickdown regularly. I did just last week, getting in front of a truck and trailer before my onramp lane ended. Couldn't have dared that within those first three years. But now I know time and distance in this car. I wouldn't say "to a nicety", but Ima getting there slowly. Ah hah.

Drive slow car fast } drive fast car slow.

Honestly not sure. I think it's UV ceramic costing, I need to ask for documents.

It will definitely take some time to get used to the power.

Agreed. My previous cars which were slower had much more adrenaline at slower speeds. Meanwhile when I got my Stinger up to 130mph she was still smooth--but there is something to be said about cruising through Idaho and Utah at 85mph and the ride being very smooth as opposed to feeling like the car is shaking and fighting to maintain the speed.

Welcome aboard! For a name, how about Ethel?

Absolutely, she is so smooth that I have to always drive with the limiter on so I don't caught.

Thanks! We decided on Cass yesterday

Isn't that like going to the pub and being surprised when you walk out drunk?

I get the sentiment but opening a book doesn't always mean you will read that chapter. Sometimes you are just browsing.

I’m newish here too, not many brits on this forum, not many stringers registered in uk. I may be wrong but iirc it was 690. I’m in Kent, and loving the stinger. A lot of bang for the buck!

She's a Beaut! Can't wait to black out the badges like you have.

I felt the same way re: value. I learn new things about the car everyday, and I'm blown away what a good package this is.
