Hey guys and gals..

so I’m looking at adding spacers to my OEM staggered setup. I’ve decided to go 15mm rear and 10mm front based on everything I’ve read. I want to make sure it looks clean without it trying too hard (again a little understated but want to make sure everything fits and works).
All that said I need to understand what’s needed for the OEM setup so I’m not ordering, returning and reordering.

Do I need to replace studs?
Do I need longer lugs?
Hub centric vs ?
Reco on which to buy?
Wtf else should I know?

I’m pretty methodical and my sickness of building out my girl is getting the best of me. I just want to make sure it’s right and the wheels stay on.

Thanks fam.

No one? Really?

You will need to replace studs for longer ones. Might have to remove wheel bearings in the back, since there is no room to remove the studs. Front should be straight replacement. For the spacers, you will definitely want to get hubcentric ones.

The rear hubs have to come out. Even for 10mm spacers. Either go with the spacers you have to bolt to the stock studs or forget it.

Do I need to replace studs?
No, you will be using the studs in the spacers

Do I need longer lugs?
No, just ensure/enquire that you lugs are compatible with the spacers.

Hub centric vs ?
Only

Reco on which to buy?
Got mine @ Wheel Spacers, but that maybe to far for you...

Wtf else should I know?
Make sure the OEM Studs fit into the pockets of the back of the OEM rims, without touching. Had to shorten the the studs very little.
THERE MUST BE ABSOLUTELY NO SPACE BETWEEN SPACER & RIM.

I did it to go square 255/40/8.5/19 - no typo here - and used the rears of another OEM set.

Why are you doing it?

Good luck.

I want to flush the tires a bit with the OEM staggered setup. To me the powder coated wheels look pretty good and flushed out would really complete her look. I just don’t want to screw something up with the wheels etc. flying off. I had it happen once (the repair shop didn’t completely torque one whee) and have anxiety about it especially since I’m the one trying to figure out the right setup.

Never done it and want it. I’m a 4 year old child at this point lol

I know the NGT 20mm spacers look pretty good and fit no problem. I believe some have run only the spacer in the back and left the front alone they wanted a more staggered setup. I remember reading on the g70 forum that 15mm bolt on hubcentrics weren’t compatible because the studs hit the backing of the wheel (stock g70 wheel same size as ours).

I’ve been meaning to order the 20mm spacers from khartunerz just have been lazy.

How's the stinger handle with the extra rubber up front?

handle with the extra rubber
Really nice and solid!. And I can rotate the tires evry 5000km. Thesea are Michelins A/S tires. The first set - also A/S - lasted 30,000ikm, With full rotation, Michelin guarantees 70,000km. We'll see. LOL

My biggest concern with spacers (or wheels with significant offset difference relative to stock) is the change in load on the wheel bearings and what that means to bearing longevity. Also, how the wider track will affect alignment and loads during cornering since the wheel is now further away from the rotational axis (strut).

I don't understand this stuff enough to answer these questions, but know enough to say the car will experience loads differently.

This falls under the last question, "Wtf else should I know?"

Years ago, I was coming back home from NIU to drop the bike off for winter storage. I'm in the far inside lane on I88 somewhere around Aurora. Look to my right to see a wheel passing me by. You can't make this sh!t up! It's rare but does happen.

Check your local laws re spacers as they're very hard to hide from a cop looking for a reason to give you a ticket.

Here in Australia, the ONLY cars allowed to have spacers are Porsche's ( since they're a factory option on some models ).

IMO, ditch the OEM wheels and get some Forged alloy wheels & tires in the width & offset you want.
Safer and SOOO much lighter ! Will look better, accelerate better, stop better and handle better.

You need 20mm.

With 15mm the studs will hit the back of the OEM wheel and not tighten down properly.

20mm.

I mentioned the same thing, good to have double confirmation about the 15mm ones.
