Have been fortunate enough to convince the company I am with to change my corporate vehicle to a Stinger. This should occur mid spring of 2020. With that, and after some longtime lurking here on these forums, I have a few inquiries regarding my situation.

1. Have any of you run into warranty issues with mods (intakes, jb4, down pipes etc.)? This being a company car I will be required to have it’s first three years of maintenance performed at the dealer, as is custom for my situation.

2. Is there any reason to get intakes (thinking Injen) as a stand alone hp boost?

3. Is there any reason to get a jb4 if for various reasons I will not be able to modify the exhaust to breathe better? Again, no one is really supposed to modify the company rides. Also, if I am truly enjoying the car, I may buy it from company at leases term.

It’s been years since I had anything fun to drive, the last being a 1971 Pontiac Formula with a built 455. Looking forward to some fun drives on my long work hauls.

Thanks for any insight, and look forward to spending quality time here.

Welcome aboard!

Lucky you and what a great company to work for. Are they hiring? (J/K)
See answers below.

No warranty issues with the mods currently available. Just make sure, if able, to find a dealer that is mod friendly. Most won't deny warranty service if they find some mods, but there are always some that will. I would stay away from the down pipes for now, as there has been a few overboost issues with them, when running a JB4. This not an issue with the JB4, it is a problem with the factory ECU and the WGDC.

Yes, the factory intake boxes and filters are very restrictive. You surely notice a difference, not only on sound, but in response as well.

Yes, little known fact is that all number gains posted by BMS are with mostly factory components. The JB4 alone is most definitely the biggest game changer for the Stinger, even with everything stock.

Wow robz32, I could not have asked for a better response! Thanks for that! Already spoke with the wife and have told her that I am throwing cash at a company car and she just smiled and said go for it. She knows I miss rear RWD and the HP to make it fun (spent end of last winter drifting her new 2019 Suburban in the snow) and she can’t wait for it too. Current car is a 3.5 Accord EX-L.

Looks like the best place for me to start is the intakes and jb4. Might add the plugs that others are recommending as well.

So, I will keep researching here and join in some posts when I feel I can add info or humor to the thread.

Thanks again!

wow, a stinger for a company car is a sweet deal!
Definitely do plugs if you get a JB4, or at least re-gap the stock ones.

If you're worried about warranty work, the JB4 can be removed very quickly.
For intakes, you could look into the DIY route (there's a huge thread on those). They're not as pretty as Injen, but I can swap back to the stock airboxes in less than 15 min.
The BMS intakes use the bottom half of the stock airbox, so they should be easy to swap back to stock as well.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Very fun intro, "Mads". :D Welcome to the Stinger Forum. You're in the right place for being a mad mod freak/geek! The most active group on the forum are the modders.

Hey Arvix, I think I will get the new plugs when the time finally comes. I do like the DIY intakes idea that uses the bottom of the cold air box, directing the cold air more effectively. Have time to keep researching and maybe a new product will be introduced between here and lease time too. Curous, do you remove the jb4 if you go to Kia for service?

CKeeler, not sure you’d appreciate the weather here in SW Ohio. May want to reconsider. I have been with this small company over 25 years and plan to retire here as well. Am blessed.

MerlintheMad, nice name! Mine was given me by a pal ~30 years ago due to me driving better in SCCA when I am mad about something. ‍♂️ If it fits....

Look forward to lurking these pages for many moons to come. Have a great day all!

My moniker is added to my real first name. I turned myself into a fantasy RPG character at one "mad" point in that hobby. And I've used it ever since in RL online.
