Got my Black and Beautiful Car 48 hours ago. 24 hours ago it rained. Car wasn't in garage and now it has water spots everywhere. Going tomorrow to get it detailed.

QUESTION: I live outside of Toronto and ee get a lot of salt. If I get ceramic coating, I can't take it to car washes, which means I have to wash it myself. How do I do it? My garage is small (can't open both doors to the max). So I was thinking of using a hand wash and not a spray wash because of space. BUT NOW THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE. My garage doesn't have a drain so all the water will have to go onto the driveway. As you can see... -30... Ice...Water... HUGE PROBLEM.

Do i have any options or am I stuck with automatic touchless car wash and that is it?

touchless car washes are the only way in the winter... unless you can rip up the garage floor (part of it) and get a drain installed...
DIY ceramic at $80/year isn't bad (prolly last 2 years) and cheaper than adding a drain - The other option id to take it to a detail shop to wash it in the winter

Easy...use this, this is a superb water less wash concentrate product that you can dilute however you want and will leave another layer of ceramic coat. Amazing product I use it to wash my R8 and 981 when is too cold outside or I't too lazy to get the buckets the hose etc... Key is to spray lots of product to avoid scratching paint and to use several good quality. Oh by the way don't use it on any BBC it won't work just use simple soap for that, trust me on that.

Meguirer’s has a Waterless Wash and I have used when she’s only a slightly dirty girl. Works VERY well. Amazon has it for $10. It’ll absolutely work on light water spots. It’s not for a salty / heavily soiled car.
GOOD LUCK!

Hey everyone,

Okay, so can someone please help me out on what should my weekly/monthly/yearly procedure be?

Toronto has 4 perfect seasons. 2 Rains + 1 Full Snow + Full Sunshine. Car is parked in garage during night, but outdoors during the day (for work, used as daily driver).

The car is NOT coated right now, or colour protected, or waxed or anything at all. I just picked it up from a lot which I'm sure was in the sun for a year now (this is a 2020 model, and I think the 2020 models came out in November of 2019?)

So what products should I get + what should I get from my detailer?

If I get CERAMIC COATING, wouldn't it go away after a few washes? Thats like hours of doing the work for it to all go away after I take it to a touchless car wash. So is there some sort of procedure I should do after I take it to the car wash on weekly basis? Some sort of spray or something? Something that can be done in 45 minutes or less, once a week?

I guess my biggest question is... What can I use on my car to stop the water spots forming on my car? After this rain, this car looks so sad :( It has water spots everywhere. Is there anything I can do besides using Ceramic Coating or PPF?

Wait, WTF? You can’t wash your car outside your garage? f*ck, if not go to a “touchless” spray only place. Even if it is that cold...either f*cking wait, or wash it quick let drain a few and bring it in the garage, that might be above freezing. Anytime dirty and above 0 degrees C go touchless (that has a functional an effective side/under-spray feature, and when your done, immediately park, open all doors, hood and hatch and wipe ALL the water and any residual spots, filth, marks, etc., OFF everything not underneath with the old towels you MUST keep in you car. Wear winter mittens/gloves if below 10C, evaporation cools drastically at those temps. I guarantee this will satisfy you and extend the life of your cars body/chassis/wheels. Then do your interior. This is basic knowledge. Start from here.

Other than PPF in front, my clear coat is untouched by wax or ceramic. It still looks great (I am Silky Silver, though, so there is that distinction).

I hand wash in winter, anytime it is above freezing. If you can get the inside of your garage (a garage! what luxury!) above freezing you can wash. I use Optimum No Rinse and a single bucket of distilled water; usually I'll add another c. half gallon of hot, soft water. Wash with good quality microfiber, or, as I do, white terrycloth towels so that you can see the amount of dirt coming up. Flip to a clean side if soiled. ONR will remove water spots and prevent the same, and in distilled water it is absolutely not going to leave spots. You dry as you go, a section at a time.

A heavily soiled car (muddy, salty mess) will visit the hand held wand wash first to get the bulk off, then finish up at home with ONR. I wash each time my car gets mucked (stormed on). Around here, winters are typically above freezing during the day, at least most days in a week.

I've arranged to have my undercarriage sprayed out at a detail shop. I may also have them hand wash at the same time; depends on how much they'll charge above the $75 they quoted me for getting my car in the air and cleaning out the undercarriage; seems pretty steep all by itself!

Did you wait to over word count my post? Good advice you old bastard.

Meguiars makes a product called Ultimate Quik Wax. It’s a hydrophobic spray wax that works great. It will help keep you from getting water spots since the water just repels right off of the surface. It will hold for about a week to a week and a half. Depending on weather conditions
