I’m fairly new to being a car enthusiast. I have the 22 stinger gt2. The performance mods I have done so far are Hks spark plugs, injen intake, ram style snorkel intake, MBRP cat back, MBRP resonators.

Im looking to purchase jb4 tune kit, Hks BOV and catch can. But had question in regards to improving sound. I see HFC midpipe downpipe combo and also the ark down pipe.

Which one of these two will provide the best sound while also improving performance? And second would anyone recommend a resonator delete or have a resonator in mind that doesn’t neuter the sound too much?

And also is there a way to keep the valve open all the time without having to go into sport mode?

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Just letting you know that I’m moving this topic out of the community lounge and into the Stinger exhaust forum.

While there are plenty of exhausts that make it sound louder, V6's are notoriously difficult to make sound good, and a lot of people seem to end up with rasp. I'd love to know how Jaguar did it with the F-Type.

APR makes a remote for the active exhaust that will let you control it independently of your drive mode.

you have MBRP resonators on top of the ones that come with the cat-back? I'd kill those first if that's a yes.

Hey @ScorpionStingz,

Removing the cats from your downpipes will make your car louder and sound more aggressive. Since the Ultimate Performance Downpipe Kit offers a "high flow cat" for the primary downpipe and a completely catless secondary downpipe, it will be louder than just the Ark Performance catless secondary downpipes.

Personally, I really like the sound of the Stinger with the Ultimate Performance Kit with the additional MBRP Resonators. If I were you, I would go that route and if you are unhappy, you can always go back and remove those resonators.

I have everything you mentioned purchasing, I would be happy to offer you a discount on your order.

I have the APR wireless remote on my stinger. It's really great. You could just get that instead of going a more expensive route to change things to keep valves open. The mbrp resonator definitely cuts down on the sound to reduce drone.

Could always remove that and see how it is and if you don't like it put it back and stick to using the apr valve controller. I honestly really love having the valves fully open on my borla active almost always. I have the ark secondaries as well. Really changes the tone of any catback and gets quiet a lot louder. :D

Can you please attach a link to the one that is compatible with the stinger? The ones I’m finding says compatible only with VW and Audi. Thank you soo much

Sure no problem. I believe it says that in general but works on pretty much most valved exhausts including the stinger. This is the one I got:

Here it is installed on my car and working:

I think that combo from k8stingerstore will be pretty nice with the resonator you have now as it is rather raspy. K8stinger store is great, I've had great experience with them. :)

Fun times ahead!

I have ark mids and MBRP cat-back. It sounded ok but there was a bit of rasp.

I was skeptical at first, but I added exhaust tips that actually connect to the cat-back and it made quite the noticeable improvement. The rasp is non existent and no drone. The car sounds much better with the exhaust tips.

Yup 100% need exhaust tips to extend beyond the bumper exits to help with drone and some rasp.

Those factory cutouts are terrible. All it will do is have the sound bounce all around the hallow hatch and cause headache inducing drone. I remember first time I did muffler delete without tips. Holy hell levels of drone. You can find some nice oval shaped akrapovic exhaust tips on ebay. Pretty reasonably priced but takes a while to get them as they are from china usually.
