How sure are we that the Stinger isn't Kia's G70?

Because it sure seems to be a lot of people are making the comparison. The following article is titled "What sets the Kia Stinger, Genesis G70 apart?"

It sounds to me like both cars will be virtually the same outside of maybe the G70 being the more luxurious car, especially in ride (softer) and the Stinger looking for athletic or masculine. As of right now Im pretty convinced both cars share the same exact platform.

i never thought about the g70 possibly having a hatch back. aren't there spyshots of the g70 with an actual trunk? i'm pretty sure there are but correct me if i'm wrong.

yes i'm sure of it. the genesis g70 has a regular trunk. i guess the stinger and g70 could use the same platform but i think each car is going to have it's own distinct personality.

Nobody' said it isn't. In fact plenty of people, including myself in another thread, have pointed out that it's almost certain to be a sibling vehicle. That said, i don't expect the G70 to be a hatchback.

Right. I think both cars will use the same platform but differentiate themselves in various ways. If not, what mystery platform is the G70 on?

Almost every article I read about the Stinger compares it to the yet unreleased G70. Somebody must know something so I have a feeling it's a pretty accurate comparison. It makes sense too.

What we know is the G70 will be a little smaller than the G80, and the Stinger IS a little smaller than the G80. And the G60 will most likely be 3-series sized, and the Stinger is bigger than that.

So, it's a bit more official that the G70 & Stinger are sibling cars. Here's an article about that, although about the only actual piece of information there is that the G70 will be a bit more "subdued" than the Stinger. It also seems to be implied that, unsurprisingly, the G70 will have a suspension tuned more for comfort than sporty handling.

Im totally confused by the whole Genesis route. If the G80 is the BMW 5-Series and the G60 is the 3-Series, what is the G70?

I suppose the G70 is a 'tweener, as it's only marginally smaller than the G80. It also depends on how you choose to compare the Koreans to a BMW. If you're going by length & wheelbase, yes the G80 is a pretty close 5 series match. If you're going by interior space, I suspect the G70 will be closer to the 5 series. BMW's lose a bit more space to the engine bay than most cars do.

yes, you're probably right. the g80 isn't far off from the base 7 series as far as interior volume goes. i see the g70 being something in between (both size wise and price wise) the g80 and g60 (5 series and 3 series).
