Man plans, but God decides. But that being said, how long do you plan on keeping your 2018 Stinger? i hear those 2021 Stingers are gonna be pretty sweet :)

My plan is the 6-10 year mark. My last new vehicle, circa 2003, I promised myself if I modded it...I'd keep it for 10 years. I kept it 9 years, so I lied to myself...but I was darn close! And I lie to myself sometimes. I'm kind of thinking the same with this. As I do things to it, I rationalize that it'll make me want to keep it for longer. We'll see...:coffee:

WAIT!!! The wife might need a new car by 2021!!! Can I convince her to take my current car in 2021 and I get the new one??!! Can I possibly have both??!! :sneaky:

2038 for the mine or until the Supra comes back to life.
2028 for the Wifes ..... or until something prettier catches her eye.

10 years, or until I have to switch to the custom golf cart for the old folks' community. Whichever comes first. (Fingers crossed for 10 years, so I get one more hot car before fogey-tude hits.)

The Supra is a let down for me, because I was waiting for it and Toyota keep delaying and road block after road block. Then the supra look more like a BMW tech than Toyota. I feel I must move on and I had move over to the Civic Type R, but then KIA Stinger pop out and everything change. I would say, the Stinger may not have the 2JZ power, but it has everything else similar to a twin turbo, so I would say I will keep it until I am bored with it.

I will most likely keep it forever as I think it will be worth something for my grand-kids and I plan on buying an updated Stinger in 4 or 5 years.

Till they pry it from my cold dead hands ... on the steering wheel!!!

Depends on how long the paint lasts. Oops, wrong thread!!

I like to keep my cars until they are classics- 25+ years... hoping it will last that long but they don't make 'em like they used to. The first year Stinger may be considered a "new classic" in the future. By then we'll all have flying cars anyway and I'll be old as dirt!

for now 4 years and than let's see if there is something better arroud. If not I'll keep it for sure :D

I tend to buy new and drive 'em for ten years. I can't see trading this baby in any earlier than that, but things have a way of happening.

10 years
i had a 2000 toyota camry for 15 years & 300,000 miles

Stinger not having the 2JZ power? I thought stock they were only 320hp and took 5 seconds 0-60. Seems slower to me. Given the heft and suspension in late model Supra's I'd say the only disadvantage the Stinger has is a bit more weight and no targa top.

As for length of ownership, I kept my 2002 Monte Carlo 10.5 years, 98 Corvette 14 years, and my 2012 Optima I just gave to my wife after almost 6 years, so I'm going to guess 6-10 years for this Stinger. Then if all goes well, replace it with another Stinger. Not going to try to predict gas prices in ten years but I'm guessing there won't be a ton of demand for a 10 year old RWD car that's lucky if it gets 19mpg in the city.

As long as possible. Thinking about getting another one to keep this one stock. But, then it will be another wrestle-thon for the modded stinger. And the Mrs is thinking of taking muay Thai. Man, I can't win!!!!

Wait, I thought we could upgrade every year? Oh, that's phones. Damn.

You know Volvo is testing out a new program where you basically just rent your car. I much prefer owning outright but with the way these infotainment systems are dating cars I do see the appeal. When I got the Stinger I gave my wife my 2012 Optima and the bluetooth really doesn't like to work consistently with her iPhone 8, whereas her 2014 Corolla worked perfectly every time. I've looked into aftermarket stereo replacements and it seems like a huge expense and pain in the butt to get all the steering wheel buttons to work like they should. I really wish car manufacturers could keep the air control systems isolated, and let the infotainment systems be more replaceable, but then again I imagine that's a big draw in getting people to buy newer cars so there's no incentive to.

Thankfully due to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, our car infotainment systems can stay up-to-date, at least the parts run by Google and Apple.

At least until they come out with some new bluetooth standard that's not backwards compatible and we get new phones that no longer link to our head units. Letting the phones take over is definitely a good idea for the vast majority of drivers. Even among all this new tech I'm still a luddite who likes to purchase albums on mp3 and leave them in the car on a usb drive.
