i was thinking about getting the tork motorsports intakes (Tork Motorsports Stinger 3.3TT Intakes) but i dont know if it would be worth it as theres no sheild and they point back towards the motor.. should I stay stock or get them... i just dont know if i wanna pay $300 more dollars for the injens
Thanks
Not sure about the VT snorkels, but the JA scoops I have replace the labyrinth channel going through the radiator support bracket and makes it straight into the air box.

This is the piece I removed to put the snorkels on, certainly the scoops (which connect directly where the opening is in the bottom of the picture) is better.

yeah, i mean in a nutshell, the snorkels essentially only relocate the "entrance" for air going into the stock air box - from on top, to directly in front by the grill
Would have to disagree. Though the entrance into the air box is the same size, the path for the air is more direct, which should allow for a more consistent air flow to the filters. Just looking at the picture posted my rpoffen, you can see how restrictive the air flow into the air box would be. Also that piece is located under the grey plastic part that is attached to the front bump

It may or may not be better. There could also be a difference in venturi effects between the two setups. Also, under most circumstances the engine is acting like a pump, so how does that affect the flow. Is it laminar or turbulent? Which one is better for scavenging? Did any mechanical engineers model the flow on the Velossa Tech intake horns or are we all just having opinions?
Old thread but for those looking things up, removing that inlet elbow has been tested to significantly reduce restriction from 9 to 4 inches of vacuum.

Yeah, just remove the stock inlets. No need to get those fake ram air inlets. All I was saying is that the surface area in the radiator support is the same no matter what you do.
Or remove the stock air boxes, remove the air intake boxes on the outside of the engine bay, cut a hole through the radiator shroud and then do DIY intakes for that amazing psssssssshhhhh sound mod. Less than $100 total.
It's dumb to spend $$$$ on a name-brand CAI for $300+ imo.
