Anyone who has looked under the hood of the 3.3L engine sees a large number of clamps, most of which are conventional.

There are two clamps that must require a specialized tool to tighten or remove. They are upstream of what I think is the MAF and appear to be completely circular, no hex thread or Phillips head worm drive clamps. Anyone know what is used for these fasteners? Don

If you're talking about the rubber boot connecting the throttle body to the intake pipe where one size is larger than the other side, then those are just caps for the nuts to unscrew the clamps. Not sure why they're there, but you can either take a small screw driver and wiggle them up and off the nut or a pair of pliers to pull them off. They shouldn't require too much force to pull off even though they are a snug on there.

I was discussing these useless caps with a friend the other day..,

Here is a video of the caps removed from the clamp - in greater detail than you could possibly desire.

What are thee caps actually for? Why does Kia take the time to put them on?

Are they some kind of single use torque limiting fastener that snaps off at a predetermined torque during tightening at the factory?

Those are the fasteners I'm interested in. As I said, there are two clamps that secure the hose to what I believe if the MAF because the outlet from the MAF goes to the plastic piece that appears to be part of the intake manifold. All the "action" so to speak is on the left side of the TURBO cover as you face the car. Don

I thought they were special fasteners too. I was thinking, well, I guess I'll never take those off, LOL.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

The engine doesn't use a MAF. The area you are looking at is up to the throttle body.
Fuel management uses a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor closer to the actual intake manifold.

Thanks for educating me. It looks like a MAF but could as well from appearance be a throttle body. I like learning about all aspects of the car. Don
