Been considering buying the Seibon TS Hood, but not willing to diy install hood pins and not certain if they are necessary? Read around and noticed lots of people not using them, but I'm not sure if they daily their cars or how fast they tend to go. Any issues with the hood or issues using no hood pins?Screenshot_20220315-145013_Chrome.webp

Love this hood, I think it would look great on an Ascot green Stinger like mine. I’ve come across a couple threads saying the same, but yeah- someone with experience, please chime in.
Are you going to change the hood struts out, for lower pressure ones? If so, please post a link of the ones your ordering, might save me some homework
;)

I have the SBGT hood and no pins. I daily the hell outta my ride for what its worth. I hit 100 plus at random but usually range 80 to 90 on average on the hwy. (Traffic allowing). Ive also met several owners that have the TS hood without pins and no issues. Really just need to look at your personal driving habits and commute i guess. But for me its not a track or strip car so im not concerned.

Also have the low pressure shocks from torx but you can find them on ebay and other vendors as well.
Way easier than the hood prop. But i have one if anyone is interested in buying it.

@General_Vodka helped me out when i was concerned about pins. His reply to me speed wise eased my concerns.

Dont know if any of that helps

I didn't want to risk it and ran some smaller quick latch QL-25 on my OE style Seibon hood. I have notes about it here: What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

To be honest it actually helps my hood sit better. Before, one side's leading edge sat too high and the quick latch pulls it down to the proper level

What happens if you have this hood in rain? Appears rain will damage the ecu no? Or does it come with a duct system

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
the ECU is sealed and also no where near the vents. It's located behind the shock tower in it's own little compartment. If you somehow get this wet you've driven into a lake.

Wasn't there just a thread on that? The driving into the lake thing.

So running an open hood through rain will not cause issues?

There is a lot more under there besides the ECU. Gonna make sure it's dry before you put it away?

Despite there being an undertray you still get quite a bit of water in the engine bay during rain storms already.

The only problem I can think of is if you have compromised seals on any of your wiring or if you're running open element intakes that are in the path of water. Or anything aftermarket under there that isn't waterproofed. Also your engine bay is going to get dirty faster.

Granted I probably wouldn't run a hood like this if I lived in Seattle or a place that has a lot of snow.

I feel personally called out on this.
Hey I'm just stating what I wouldn't do, you do you.

I personally have the OEM style on mine but the vents on those aren't directly open, they open up in a support that has holes in it near the radiator area. Haven't had any issue with rain or snow with that.
