just like the title says, probably something I did when cleaning the engine bay! Anybody know how to pop the hood manually? Latch has zero tension on it

edit: Gave up...gotta take it to the dealer. No access anywhere.

As you said, take it to the dealer is my only advice...sorry, I hope it gets sorted for you.

Can anybody do me a favor and pop their hood, close the latch with the hood up and see what can be pressed/pulled to release the latch? There is a small gap near the cruise control plate where you can get a long tool in to press the latch. I don't want to go around jamming stuff though. I've tried pulling on the cable by the wire wall but nothing. I think one of the little tethers on the fender popped off and the cable just needs a really good pull! I might remove the trim paneling, and the hood latch pull and see if I can get that cable to pull out even further.

Thanks!

Alright, I can't seem to "trip" the latch through the front, and pressing on the front bumper and sliding a small tool in there doesn't do anything either. Pulled the interior trim to get to the latch handle and pulled the cable as hard as I could with no results either. Seems like the dealer may have to break a few bits in order to access it...

I think not. Once in the air they can access from below and surely without breaking any bits. Nothing is more basic than a disconnected hood release cable. May fortune smile upon you. Get thee to thy dealership without further delay or debate.

Thanks for the boost of comfort. The air damn by the grill concerns me, hoping KIA put a little path to the latch so one can trip it

Callum, did you get the dealer to open your hood and, if so, how did they do it?

Removed all the under body panels by the intercooler, long ass pliers and grab the cable.

Thank you for responding! When you say "grab the cable" is it the section close to the locking mechanism or somewhere else? I'm having the same issue and need to open my hood ASAP. Thanks for your time and help. If you took any photos (of the locking mechanism itself or of the cable connection where you pulled) when you did yours, I'd be truly grateful if you share them as well.

Yesterday I posted almost the same thread... And did almost everything like you did - found the gap behind the front camera, tried to pull the cable from the cabin (after removing the bottom plastic panels). Didn't helped. Tomorrow I'll call the dealer. Foolnes costs :(

Post up what the dealer ends up doing. It will be good for all of us to know.

Dealer service helped me today. Unfortunately, I couldn't be in the hall during the repair, but I saw something through the window. Then I talked to the mechanic and he said that there is no way to get to the lock from the bottom of the car. Same on the side. He managed to unscrew the lock from the car body through the inlets in the front grill. Thanks to this, the mask raised 1-2 cm. It was still locked, but then, through the gap, he managed to slide the folded bar through and feel the latch ... magic 'click' and the mask opens.

So ... if somone do the same thing or hood cable will broke, then it's not a tragedy. Service needs 30 minutes to open the hood. My stupidy costs me 150 PLN (aprox. 40$).
