Hello gents,

Just gone 700km's and i'm not due to take it back to the dealer for a check up until 3000km's or 3 months, but i have a sneeky suspicion this car has been hobbled some way due to the run in process.

I cant find anything definitive online but 208rwkw with K&N filters/ catch cans and secondary cat delete doesn't fly, especially the inability to rotate the tyres in sport mode with the TC turned completely off either in lauch mode or trying to perform a fast U turn.

In fact my michelins have only rotated once from memory and then something killed the party rather abruptly.

When i take it back and KIA plug in their computer, do you believe i am going to have all the powaahh and torks available and i can then tune this thing or will i have to wait the full 3000km's run in period or potentially lose my warranty ?

It's getting tuned and cat deletes either way, but i dont think it's wise to spend the money yet until i have the ecu in a healthy state of let's phuckin' send it like it should have been right off the showroom floor !

Can anyone add anything to alay my bewilderment ??

it has been hypothesized before that the stability and traction controls are not really 'off' when we push that button to engage launch control. reduced or minimized maybe but never all the way off.

what confuses me is your assertion that the 'run in' period - aka as 'break in' period Imassuming - is 3000 km. what happened to the owners manual '600 miles' break in period?

Because that is what the salesman told me, no need to be confused!

I also did not get a normal compendium with an owners manual, I received a small booklet with a bar code that I have to scan to download the manual myself...

Cheers.

And it certainly can be turned all the way off

The service and sales dept are playing dumb in my opinion and since these forums always seem to be filled with informed and opinionated persons I thought I might ask the question...

Just something else...

I read about this brake light snip mod and about others building boost on the e-handbrake *koff* if I am in gear and I put the handbrake on as soon as I touch the throttle it turns the brake off so how is that possible to build boost with the e-brake ???!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
And a bit more... out of all the drive modes Eco is every bit as fast as Sports but with softer suspension and I think I prefer this over the crash and bash of Sports mode.

Not sure why it always defaults back to comfort everytime you turn the car off, but I didn't even notice until I unplugged the bimodal flaps and now she is making the right noises all the time.

The one time I had it in Smart mode I planted it (after a warm up)and the engine was revving but the forward motion just wasn't there...it was exactly like my missus cerato GT when you try and get up it when it is cold then like a light switch the power comes in like a sledgehammer.

I guess I still have a lot to discover about this awesome rig !

you like eco, just leave it in eco and it will start up in that and not revert to comfort.

eco is as 'fast' as sport just not as quick. if you push the kickdown switch - wot - all the drive modes are identical. wot is simply wot and no power difference.

interestingly, the manual says that in eco you might experience a louder engine sound. I have never gotten to the bottom of that, either why that would be true or why they mentioned it in the first place.

Had no joy with KIA answering my questions this morning so i am tuning the ecu next wed then fit my catless downpipes and retune for max POWAAAHHH !!

Cannot believe the millions of Stingers out there and i cannot find a simple answer on any internet forum or facebook group or google search about what i believe to be fact about a run in tune but KIA denies...

Soon after purchase I configured Custom to use all the Sports settings except I kept the suspension soft. That said, I default to Eco mode a lot. Crazy when you change it to Sport or Custom. The car fairly leaps when you slightly touch the throttle by comparison.

yes I watched that video but the fact is mine can't be turned off all the way. Can yours?

You get more engine noise in ECO because the car is shifting often to keep the revs low and low revs mean more drone and engine noise, thats all.

Regarding traction control--are we all talking about the V6 stinger? I know it can not be fully turned off in the I4 models.

If we're talking about V6 models, do you have RWD or AWD? I've never heard of the issue with RWD V6 models. There are plenty of people who have been drifting around in their RWD V6 and never reported of the traction control forcing itself.

I really haven't heard of the issue for AWD V6 models either, but the AWD cars do have some kind of torque vectoring, where the car will apply the brakes to the wheels that aren't getting traction. Is that what people are experiencing and thinking traction control is kicking in?

It is all good now soon as it passed 1000km it is now wheelspin city !!

Yes I have a 2019 RWD V6. There was a poll on this site a while ago asking owners if they could turn off their traction/stabilty control fully and some could and some couldn't. The announcement from Kia seems to confirm that pre 2020 you can't turn it off fully and I certainly can't so it is very annoying. If anyone hears of a hack to turn it off fully please let me know.
