Hey, Tom! Have anything for us yet?

These are the keys to success! But the Stinger keys are locked up. We did have one Thunder Grey Limited Stinger for sale! It is most likely the only Stinger for sale first come first served in Canada! With only 150 cars to come to Canada in 2017 with next delivery???? They were sold out as far as I have been told. Car is a beauty!

Hi, I'm currently living in Alberta for work, but I'm a US citizen and will likely be heading back to SF sometime next year when my contract is up. I am interested in buying the Thunder Gray GT Limited since it's not available (why, I have no idea) in that color in the USA. If I buy the car now, can I bring it back with me in a year? Thanks

Yes, possibly, but Stinger is brand new, so nobody has attempted it yet. You could be our test case!!! Here's a few articles that discuss how to do it. What I took away from all of them is that we won't really know until it's attempted, because it's entirely dependent on the manufacturer documenting that the Canadian model is substantively the same as the US model.

Welcome aboard, @stingergt! Thank you for signing up. You've asked a great question. Let's see what @TheNoBSGuyWithaTie has to say about this... :)

Don't forget the warranty! I have heard KMA will not honor the Canadian warranty.

I called Kia of America HQ and asked about the warranty, they claim it will be honored. I called to ask about the paperwork needed, apparently you need a letter from KMA indicating the car is basically the same car, on KMA letterhead, in order to be brought into US. I'll double check on warranty and report back here.

This is definitely something I'm interested in knowing more about.. I'm curious about what kind taxes will need to be paid as well (tariff). If it's not that much of an inconvenience and the taxes aren't super inflated then it would definitely be worth it since you're getting the highest trim with more options for potentially a lot less money.

Oh oh... here come the Americans to scoop up the Canadian Stingers!
Remember, no 4 cylinders here... yet...

Care to give a bit more details and specifics on who you called (dept, phone number, etc.) and what the paperwork it is that you're talking about? Probably more than a few peeps on the forum that might like to replicate your methods. And who knows, if Kia gets enough people pestering them about buying Canadian cars due to the options offered in the US, maybe they'll rethink the US options.

It certainly would make a statement to have people flying into Canada to make their purchase.

I vote for a Group Buy....then we'll start the very First CanAmSting Run. All driving South across the border home.

I am not sure I would believe that, the Kia America warranty guide specifically states they will only honor vehicles titled and registered in the United States. (So a Kia bought in the US has no warranty if registered in Canada) I definitely would want something in writing BEFORE I went through everything else to get a car in Canada and bring it to the US.

This is a big purchase so I agree 100%. It would really be nice if this could all work out but somebody going through the motions should really delve into all the details before making any final decisions...

People buy all sorts of CND vehicles and they get shipped to the US. We will have a free trade agreement and cars pass across the boarders all the time. Diesel trucks get purchased up here and shipped south of the board a lot and with the exchange at around 20% there is money to be made buy buyers and sellers. When the exchange rate was at 40%+ rate cars used to move more often of course. All Kia sold here get warranty across the US and Mexico but with people posting different answers getting it nailed down solid would be a good idea. The Stingers are all made in one place right now and that is in South Korea......not like they are different vehicles! Canada will get no two wheel drive vehicles for now. Just the AWD twin turbo and Limited version for now. We get alot of people asking us about a two door already! :-)
