Kia Stinger

Hey, @TheNoBSGuyWithaTie! Any updates yet? Please keep us posted here! Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm currently living in Alberta for work, but I'm a US citizen and will likely be heading back to SF sometime next year when my contract is up. [...] If I buy the car now, can I bring it back with me in a year? Thanks
Welcome aboard, @stingergt! Thank you for signing up. You've asked a great question. Let's see what @TheNoBSGuyWithaTie has to say about this...Hi, I'm currently living in Alberta for work, but I'm a US citizen and will likely be heading back to SF sometime next year when my contract is up. I am interested in buying the Thunder Gray GT Limited since it's not available (why, I have no idea) in that color in the USA. If I buy the car now, can I bring it back with me in a year? Thanks
Don't forget the warranty! I have heard KMA will not honor the Canadian warranty.Yes, possibly, but Stinger is brand new, so nobody has attempted it yet. You could be our test case!!! Here's a few articles that discuss how to do it. What I took away from all of them is that we won't really know until it's attempted, because it's entirely dependent on the manufacturer documenting that the Canadian model is substantively the same as the US model.

It's an invasion...Oh oh... here come the Americans to scoop up the Canadian Stingers!
Remember, no 4 cylinders here... yet...
I called Kia of America HQ and asked about the warranty, they claim it will be honored. I called to ask about the paperwork needed, apparently you need a letter from KMA indicating the car is basically the same car, on KMA letterhead, in order to be brought into US. I'll double check on warranty and report back here.
It certainly would make a statement to have people flying into Canada to make their purchase.Care to give a bit more details and specifics on who you called (dept, phone number, etc.) and what the paperwork it is that you're talking about? Probably more than a few peeps on the forum that might like to replicate your methods. And who knows, if Kia gets enough people pestering them about buying Canadian cars due to the options offered in the US, maybe they'll rethink the US options.
Welcome aboard, @BIGRED! Thank you for signing up! Oh, boy, I never even considered that.We Canucks might have to look into building a wall!!!
I am not sure I would believe that, the Kia America warranty guide specifically states they will only honor vehicles titled and registered in the United States. (So a Kia bought in the US has no warranty if registered in Canada) I definitely would want something in writing BEFORE I went through everything else to get a car in Canada and bring it to the US.I called Kia of America HQ and asked about the warranty, they claim it will be honored. This is a big purchase so I agree 100%. It would really be nice if this could all work out but somebody going through the motions should really delve into all the details before making any final decisions...I am not sure I would believe that, the Kia America warranty guide specifically states they will only honor vehicles titled and registered in the United States.
