Car damage.webp

That headlight assembly alone costs $1,500.

Backstory: Car was parked and unoccupied, and according to witnesses, a woman in a full-size pickup backed into my car, then fled the scene. We have a lot of uninsured Hispanic "visitors" from south of the border, and I strongly suspect that was one of them.

wow, am adding a cam onto mine this year, my rear was $6700 when someone hit it and left.

Speechless disbelief and rage.:mad::(:sleep:

Park far away from frequented areas and enjoy the walking.

Damn. I hope you don't need a fender replacement. I just got done waiting over 3 months to get a replacement for mine, though they may have a batch of them made now. Hope you are back on the road with it soon!

I had one of my headlight's crack, bought a used one on eBay for $300 with just a tiny scratch on it.

Damn, they didn't catch the license plate I take it? I bought a cam for this very reason, it has a G-sensor in it so that if some a-hole backs into my car it will start recording, would definitely recommend something like that. Sorry man, that really sucks, really uncool when people do stuff like this.

That sucks big time. Humans can just be scum a lot of times. Sorry.

Ouch! Sorry man.

Damn full size pickups. We generally don't get those monsters over here. Do they come with reversing cameras or reversing sensors. Should be mandatory on cars that big.

At full list, those headlights are pricey. My old ‘10 535 Xenon headlight module was $1200, I wonder how much the laser lights on these newer models cost. Sorry about the damage to your ride, it suck when your baby gets damaged.

They are mandatory on new vehicles now, since May 2018. It was supposed to be four years earlier.

Doesn't matter, it won't stop this kind of damage. You're assuming most drivers care, which obviously doesn't apply to anyone who would drive away from a collision like this.

You’re expecting too much from people. About 10 years ago I parked my motorcycle on my driveway right in front of the garage (should’ve put I in the garage), and then I went inside for about half an hour. My neighbors across the street were hanging outside and watched as a couple of people took it. One pushed it along the sidewalk while the other drove alongside him doing like 3 MPH. They couldn’t give a single description other than “two people in a car.”

Wow, they certainly wouldn't be on my Christmas card list.

But you don't actually know, do you? So why throw that in there? I mean I suspect I know, but then that just makes me as bad as you...

Could be a valid suspicion, but not politically correct? Common to see similar uninsured in California as well, particularly in more run-down neighborhoods.

One thing is for certain, the woman is a dishonest person and should not be allowed to drive.

Two reasons:

1. It happens a lot around here. Illegals coming across the border try to fly under the radar, and of course they can't buy insurance without a valid driver's license, etc.

2. A witness said the woman looked Hispanic.

The fender is bowed (see pic), but the shop said it would be no problem to straighten it.
