Hi,

My Stinger's starter is stuck (always on, won't stop) and I had to disconnect the battery to stop it. I pulled the start relay from the fusebox in the engine compartment and the starter still won't stop turning, so probably the starter solenoid is stuck.

I need to tow the car but the electronic parking brake is still on and the transmission is in Park (well, at least that's how I remember it before I disconnected the battery).

Two questions:

How do I release the parking break without connecting the battery? I can't find anything in the manual.

How do I put it in neutral without connecting the battery? The manual describes a procedure that requires connecting a supplementary battery and pushing the pin in the notch next to the transmission handle, but I can't connect a battery, don't want to risk frying the starter since it will be continuously turning.

Any ideas what to do to put the car on a flatbed safely are welcome.

The car is 2018 Stinger GT Limited (Canadian 3.3).

Thank you.

Two people, you sit in the car and the other connects the battery just long enough to engage the electronic parking brake and release it and get the trans into neutral. I bet that is what the towing people will do.

What about disconnecting the starter motor?

If you have removed the correct starter relay, how is the starter getting power?

EDIT
as @JSolo pointed out, a shorted starter solenoid can cause this situation even with the starter relay removed

It could be that the starter side of the relay is shorted out (contacts are
not opening). In any event pulling the starter relay out should work.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
^^If the starter solenoid itself is somehow shorted internally, then it won't matter if the starter relay is present or not. That is, the high power side of the solenoid is maintaining a closed circuit all on its own.

Upon closer inspection, I believe you are correct.

That's hopefully a VERY uncommon failure mode
