I'm new to the forum and have been reading it for a few weeks now. Reason for joining simple, I've inked the deal on a new 2019 Stinger GT in Silver/Black Interior. I did a lot of test driving including an Audi S5 Sportback, and a Lexus GS350 F Sport. I decided on the Kia. Why? Mostly because while the Audi was faster it was not $55,000 better than the Kia GT, while the fit and finish in the Lexus was more refined, it was not $30,000 better than the Kia. And I've never been a badge Nazi, so with the demise of the Australian car industry I wanted a GT style car front engine rear wheel drive and a car with striking looks. In my opinion, the Kia hit the mark in spades for an awesome price.

Welcome mate, when is your delivery date? Did you order any extras?
If you could add your location to your profile it would assist us "downunders".

Welcome on joining our stingerforum, and Congrats on your Silver StingerGT, I like how you researched all three cars , test drove them, and realised even though the Audi and Lexus are better in certain ways, but not that much better considering the price differences.

Thanks mate, I'm pretty fussy but I'm also very practical about my car which I keep and take good care of.

cheers,

Paul.

Hey Snannon,

Indicative date at the moment is between 28 FEB and 5 March, but it's in pre-car stock now so it's as FOB as it can be. Only option I needed was the carpet mats. I didn't got the bi-modal exhaust mostly because after 2 to 3 years, I'll do my own thing here ;) because I'm of the opinion this has the makings of a real enthusiasts car, but small steps for now.
I will most likely do a clear vinyl wrap for the front for stone protection, but the jury is still out I might do something unique yet once I have it.

Paul.

Sounds like a good plan. I'm sure you'll enjoy your new ride.

Gggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg' Day Mate! awesome choice of a car. I agreed if you can get pass the badge snobbery or dont' care telling your neighbor I drive a Audi the Sting is a better much better deal.

You made the choice many of us have already..... and for the same reasons! I’m with you all the way on that decision. db

Agreed Audi S5 close to 20k USD more for fully loaded, not only that maintenance and if something goes wrong can cost you thousands and thousands, Lexus? It is curious to me why most of people driving Lexus cars are senior citizens and females, Lexus usually has no emotion into driving it, pretty boring most of them. Welcome to the clan!

Welcome aboard and congratulations. Let us know once it lands at the dealer.

Thank to all for the welcome, I'm told it will be at the dealer on Wednesday so hoping for a Friday delivery. This give me the weekend to get acquainted, I did some research into Ceramic Coating and for the money it will go in next week to get it done. The dealer offered it but the price was too high and the guy I'm getting to do it, does many cars for local dealers and I went to his shop today and saw the results on many cars including a Lamborghini Aventador and a McLaren 650S, really impressed with the process and results.

I've got no issue with the KIA badge, I really don't care, but I do like some of the badges from this forum so I think I'll get some subtle re-badging from here but I'm proud to be a trail blazer and to have it wear a KIA badge, and I love an underdog so I'm a fan of what KIA is achieving, always love anyone ready to disrupt the status quo.

Cheers Paul.

Yeah the Lexus was a little left field for me and didn't really fit the use case, but I have a friend with an F Sport and it's a great car, but the sport back gave me the luggage space I needed, and fit more with the GT style I was after. I also tested an Infinity Q50 Red Sport, again great car, but sales are non existent in Australia after 4 years in the market so that was a big red flag to me. I don't know what it is with Nisan/Infinity but it gives me the feeling of a dead man walking.

Cheers,

Paul.
