Hello everyone.
Been reading this forum for about a month now, finally decided to register. I'll definitely have questions about every aspect. Researched the car I drive now for a year before pulling a trigger.
Now I have a 2001 Lexus LS430 UL with all bells and whistles, 132k miles on the clock. Almost 10 years in my possession.
Never thought I would be looking for a Kia as a next car. Looked at Audi, Benz and Infiniti and then I found Stinger. Oh my God gorgeous exterior, great looking interior. Started reading up on it, watching all the reviews and one day just scheduled a test drive at my local Kia dealership. Drove a red on black GT2 - holy cow!
Never thought a Kia could drive and ride like this. I was pleasantly surprised with interior materials - I have my Lexus for comparison. One thing - hard plastic at the bottom of the dash, otherwise no complaints.
Seats were great and comfortable, with good support - better then my Lexus. I could easily fit in the back seat, headroom is a little tight (I'm 6'2").
Visibility is worse then my Lex but I do undestand it's a sleeker car, however would love the side window line to be lower for better visibility. Rear visibility is almost nonexistent, again comparing to my Lex, thank God there is a rearview camera and sensors.
Good cabin noise isolation, only an engine sound is very pronounced but I like the way it sings.
It was a a shock to me, in a good sense of the word, that the stinger is not harsh at all! I thought I'd spit out my teeth after the test drive.
Car was very composed and comfortable even in sport mode.
Handling is leaps and bounds above the Lex so as acceleration and braking.
One thing I did notice was, when you press the accelerator to the floor from spot, there is a half second delay, then all hell breaks loose :)
So, to sum it up: I am researching a Stinger as my next car.
I have some questions:
Does stinger have double pane windows?
Is any glass laminated?
Does it have spare tire?
Is there a net hooks in the trunk and is the net available from the dealer?
Where is the button to open the trunk located inside the car?
Is it possible to add a remote start at the dealership if the car does not come with it equipped from factory (haven't seen one stinger with this option readily available) and if it is, will the remote be modified with an extra button and an indicator to know that the car started?
Is it true that all Stingers that come with 18" all season tires are limited to 130mph top speed and not 167mph? Can the dealer remove this limiter?
That all the questions on my mind right now, I'm sure more will arise later :)
Thank you.

Welcome to the forums!

This is a great post answering some of the questions you have asked.
Stinger GT AWD Limited - Owner Review and Comparison to Lexus & Audi

It does have a spare tire and not an inflate kit.

It does have net hooks but they are oriented for a horizontal net not vertical. The net is a dealer option. See the build options on the Kia site for a better description.

Remote start is an option from the dealer. It is a KIA remote that has it's own fob (with key integration) and do not believe it shows engine running status. See the KIA build options for a better description.

It is true that if you choose the 18" all season tires you are limited to a lower speed (believe 130) and no it cannot/will not be changeable by the dealer.

And finally before someone else says it in a not so nice way; please utilize the search. All of these answers are here on these forums or easily found on the KIA build options. That find button at the top is your friend. There are months of discussions here with so much to learn.

Once again though, welcome to the forums and the Stinger is truly a new experience for a Kia and I hope if you decide to get one you are as thrilled with it as many of us here are!

P.S. If you search on google you can find a download to the Stinger Owners manual which can detail just about everything you need to know! I would upload it here but it is too big, sorry.

@Falaris, thank you so much for helping out our new member! Very informative. But one thing - we do have the Stinger Owner's manual right here: 2018 Kia Stinger Owner's Manual

For future reference, it's a "sticky" thread in our "Kia Stinger Talk" forum.

@gamelovers11223! Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm really impressed with what you're saying considering you're coming out of a Lexus LS430. That was, as far as I'm concerned, the last HIGH quality Lexus ever made. It's been all down hill since then. So to hear your positive comments about the Stinger really impresses me...

Please let us know if you still have any questions about the Stinger. As mentioned, we do have a good search feature. So take a look around and let us know if you need any more help. I'm glad you found us! :)

Thank you very much for the warm welcome.
I had to drive upstate and decided to stop by a Kia dealership on the way. It turned out to be Taconic Kia. As I pulled in, saw that gorgeous yellow Stinger GT, turned out to be a GT Limited package Yellow on black for $41k
They had a red on black (the one I test drove), blue on black and black on black GT2 available for sale. One Black on red was sold but I was able to look at it.

Finally drove the Stinger on the highway and twisty upstate NY roads. 106mph on the highway and it feels like you're going 50 and its very quiet inside, more quiet than my Lex.
Haven't had that much fun behind the wheel in awhile.
They offered me $3k for my Lex, took off 1k off msrp immediately. With 8k down lease is $500 a month including all taxes and fees - out of the door price for a 36 months and 12k miles per year.

Good to see another one. Sometimes it takes a bit of open mindedness to drop badge-envy and look at the cake beneath the icing. I hope you enjoy this car.

Thank you guys .
I pulled the trigger on the stinger yesterday.
Today I got the car delivered.
Micro Blue on Grey Nappa Leather GT2 AWD.
I still cannot believe I got it. I'll update my thoughts as I drive some more.
Not the greatest picture but the only one for now.

Congratulations on your new GT2 and officially joining the Stinger “HIVE”!:D

I second Fal and think that’s one of the most beautiful color combos available!

I seriously love my car more and more everyday, and know you will too. Enjoy and happy motoring!

I actually LOVE this pic because it's the 1st one I've seen that managed to catch the entire side reflector--sweet! Congrats on your new sexy beast! You'll find it hard to beat the "Smiles per Mile" this car can create!

@Falaris, You mentioned the remote start is a dealer installed option. I'm wondering about this, as I see a BRAND NEW STINGER (wheel protectors aren't even taken off yet - dealer just got the car yesterday), and yet on the factory window sticker it says "Remote Start" $495...

So, is Kia now starting to ship cars with this option?! Could be?

Secondly, is that just on the sticker, and thus the dealer "could" install it for a customer if they so choose, or just take off the $495 if the customer does not want it?

NOTE: That car is an AWD GT w/Drive Wise (Panthera Metal), at Power Kia in Salem, OR, and David at the dealership posted the window sticker.

My car has a factory installed remote start, not dealer installed.

Congratulations....Excellent choice.

@MarkyMark Yes, there is an option on the website builder that allows you to chose if you want the car to come form the factory with the Start and other accessories (i.e: puddle lights). You can also have those added by the dealer if the car you want is already on the lot.

Congrats and welcome to the club.
