Hi everyone. I was wondering why the heat doesn't come out the regular hand vents like AC does. Comes out of vents like defrost. Is this standard? Can I get it to come out of front vents?

I'm confused. Can you reword your question?

Check ur climate control settings

The heat typically comes out of the floor (warm air rises, cold air falls) vents with a blend from the center level/console vents. To your statement, there are no hand vents. If your car is warmed up, you should have a comfortable cabin depending on the heat setting. If you could give a better explanation on the issue you are having, we can get a better idea of what you are experiencing.

Did you mean "hand vents" as the vents located at the left and the right ends of the dash?

What were the engine coolant temperature and the air flow route when this happened?

Ohhhh, I know what she's talking about.

On Stingers and Optimas the car automatically shoots air up to the windshield until it no longer detects any moisture. Once that happens the car allows the driver to actually control what happens with the climate control in the car.

That was a huge issue when the 16 Optimas first came out. No fix for it as far as I know. Best option for those that park outside is to warm the car up before driving.

Sorry about that. There are 3 vents in the center and one vent to the left of the driver by the window and reverse on the passenger side. AC comes out these vents. Why doesn't the heat? If my hands are cold I could put it in front of the vent for warm air, but there isn't any. Eventually the cabin warms up, but doesn't help my cold hands in the meantime.

Your right I noticed this the other day, even set on auto it sounds like most of the warm air is coming out of the dash windshield defrost vents.

Do you park your car outside?

It does if you change the airflow or if the “puter” thinks that is appropriate

in auto (in the cold) the auto setting typically is defrost and feet.

How do I change the airflow? Where's that setting? I'm pretty new to my car, so I haven't figured it all out.

I’m happy I went with the AWD version as I need to have that heated steering wheel in Winter. Wanted RWD but when I found out no heated steering wheel with that I opted for the AWDto get it.

In this view, the second button from the right in the bottom row. Pressing it will toggle the airflow routing.

As above but press the Climate button first so that you can see the airflow positions on the monitor. Warm air should flow from all vents.

And read the manual............. there are lots of fascinating words. Beautiful words. The biggest words. Believe me.
That’s the dictionary...lol.

Thank you all so much. The toggle switch worked! Now heat comes out the vents I want.
