Thats the most accurate statement about that drive! My favorite disappointing drive is interstate 70 through the rockies on a saturday morning. So many idiots, not enough spaceAnd so straight and boring you don't need Tesla Autopilot; you could go to sleep in a regular car and get to Denver just fine.
Yeah the V10 sounded glorious! When we would do some quick pulls on the highway passing people in the left lane we always had people looking over. We had kids pointing and some cellphones... Granted his car was wrapped in a very dark purple with some aero on it... an aggressive widebody with crazy sound draws attention...

I very briefly owned a 2017 M3 Competition package which, was grossly disappointing for a "competition package". The shifter was taller than it should have been, clutch was mushy at the top and overly stiff at the bottom and the adaptive dampers didn't seem to make a big difference between modes.OH MY GAWD!
That is one of my favorite BMW's of all time. My buddy had a E92-M3 with a six-speed and with some crazy mods from Dinan... my goodness did that V8 sound AMAZING and it was SUCH a fun car to throw around!
I knew another guy at work with an E92-M3 with just a catback, intake, and tune... my goodness it was a quick car with that DCT...
They really don't make them like they used to. I heard from my buddy who is a hardcore BMW enthusiast that the E9x's with the V8 are starting to climb up in value... amazing engines... BMW really did used to make incredible machines for driving enthusiasts... now it's rare to see a true "M" car out there...

Yeah, half the german stuff these days sounds like a pissed off lawnmower. The Mercedes CLS53 AMG did impress me however. Great transmission and the EQ boost twin turbo 6 is ridiculous. Its launches more violently than the CLS63 did in its previous body style. It just sounds really wierd at idle. Oh well.
100% agree... even with aftermarket exhausts the sounds are mixed for the most part... to say the least...

Across the street there is a 5.0L Mustang, going and coming at odd hours (I hear the dad picks up his son at TRAX). So agreeable is that NA V8 that even when I am already awake at three in the morning, or so, hearing it burble up the street and go away in the distance on the highway, it is a pleasure not an irritant. (He is very courteous at all hours and drives like a civil human being, not some testosterone challenged ricer boy.) You don't have to try and impress anyone when the engine sings naturally: I've heard him in the middle of the day, getting on it maybe halfway, away from the neighborhood, and that is a pleasant sound. Sometime I'd like to hear him really rip from a dig.
That 5.0 is a marvelous sounding engine.
