This may very well be a dumb question but I couldn't find info on the internet about this. I want to run some gumout fuel additive to clean my valves a bit, which would run through my recently installed oil catch can.

My question is, is it safe to leave the oil catch can connected during this time or will the chemicals in the gumout be affected by the can/condense in it so it doesn't reach the valves effectively.

I guess its not a big deal to swap hoses back to stock but if that's labor I can avoid I'm all for it.

Personally I empty my OCC, clean it out with a rag and spray my valve cleaner into the dipstick hole while engine warmed and running at 2000rpm. What OCC do you have?

Just a cheap/generic one off of amazon. Works pretty well though.

Hi HT,
What brand valve cleaner do you use and for how long do you spray it in there?
What if there are 2 catch cans? One has always caught a lot less gunk
than the other. Any recommendations on process?

CRC or Seafoam. Which ever one is on sale. I spray 3-5 sec intervals. Engine gets nice and toasty. I've seen white smoke come out the back. You could do half a can into one then the other half into the other if you want.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Ok stupid question, why not just add the seafoam to your oil a day before your oil change? Let you filter catch whatever and drain the rest. I know that it can be used fuel or oil side been doing it for years with other cars. Any particular reason you use use your method? Never actually thought of doing it this way.

Your thinking of the one you put into your gas tank or oil. We are talking about the intake valve cleaner that you need spray in through a vaccum hose.Screenshot_20230918-190430_Chrome.jpg
