In case anyone was wondering about this it can be done but requires cutting, welding and some additional pipes. Short answer, yes and it's the secret perfect exhaust.
I had a complete magnaflow catback system installed but my wife complained about how loud it was (said she could hear me coming a mile away because the whole house shakes) so I decided to put the oem back on but I no longer had mine. I found a GT oem exhaust for sale locally for $150 so bought it and took it to the exhaust shop. They cut off the dual connector end of the oem GT and welded on the chopped off Y connector from the magnaflow - it's much closer to the end and much bigger in diameter than the oem 2.0 one so they were able to use most of the GT dual pipes with it's resonators. The mufflers look the same but it seems like the piping was larger in diameter since I don't have the original to compare I can't confirm. The section between the catback and the mufflers are definitely larger by far, but not sure about from the axle back.
Now for the results.
If anyone has test driven or compared a stock 2.0 with a 3.3 you know the 2.0 exhaust is barely audible and the 3.3 has a little rumble to it, not a lot but it's noticeable and for some they may say just right for daily driving. At first I wasn't sure if it was my imagination but to me my car now sounded an awful lot like the 3.3. I didn't let my wife know that I changed the exhaust and let her drive it. Afterwards she didn't mention anything so I asked her if she noticed if it sounded quieter and she said she thought I still had the magnaflow exhaust on because she could still hear the exhaust pretty noticeably. This was impressive because I have the base without any fake pumped in exhaust noise so in stock form it's normally as quiet as a Lexus inside and pretty boring, so that let me know I wasn't imagining it. Another time when I drove home I asked her if she could hear me from inside the house, and she and my daughter said they couldn't hear a thing. So there it is. The perfect exhaust for daily driving a 2.0, has a nice noticeable rumble inside the car and even standing behind the car but it's not obnoxious and people can't hear you driving down your neighborhood. And the best part is there is no drone and it's very quiet in the notorious 1700-2300 rpm range.
The only problem is that I basically had to toast a perfectly fine $1000 magnaflow exhaust.
