Hey Everyone:

Firstly, Sal, thanks for putting this forum together. I'm a long time car enthusiast and gadget nut, who switches cars way too often for my own good.

My biggest factors when choosing cars are:
1. Fun to drive.
2. Safe (I really appreciate active safety mechanisms for day to day driving, and of course passive safety too).
3. Practicality - need to comfortably fit in my wife, 11-year old daughter, plenty of luggage, must have 4 doors so the daughter or other passengers aren't struggling to get in each time, etc.
4. Some level of luxury (a great sound system is important to me, heated seats too, but I can live without cooled seats, 16 different seat adjustments, etc, although I'm not complaining that my GT2 has these :) ).
5. Anonymity - I'd far rather drive a Q ship, than a car that screams - look at me, I'm fast as all get go, or look at the BMW I can afford (Ok, I admit the Stinger is a head turner, but I love that it's a Kia, and not a BMW).

Other than the car side of things, I'm married, with an 11-year old daughter. I love music of all kinds, and sing a lot in my car when there are no passengers to complain ;-). I work for a Cyber Security company in DC, managing professional services, sales engineering and knowledge mgmt/E-learning. I dabble a bit in piano, and I spend a fair amount of my spare time volunteering for BeTheMatch.org.

Looking forward to participating in this forum.

Cheers
T1328

Figured out how to edit my original post. Don't know how to delete a post of mine yet.

Welcome aboard, @t1328! Thank you for signing up. And thank you for the kind words! :) Congratulations on your brand new Stinger GT! It sounds like you picked the right car for you and your family. What did your Stinger replace?

A 2017 Golf R. Also a very nice car, particularly for the money. I decided to move away from VW.
I stuck with them after Dieselgate, but their testing Diesel fumes on monkeys was the final straw for me. If you haven't heard about that, search Google News. Very disturbing, particularly that a German company would try to disprove the WHOs statement that Diesel fumes are toxic by gassing monkeys (and even CO2 emissions on some people who were paid).

I've had Golfs, R, before that GTIs since 2010, and before that drove an Infiniti G35x, before that BMW 3 Series between 1998 and 2006. First car ever was a 1981 Golf/Rabbit 1.4l 4 speed manual which I got in 1990.

Congrats! I know there are a few sold in the DC Metro area but I have yet to see one outside a dealer lot. Not exactly true, saw one parked in a driveway close to a dealer but have not seen one on the roads.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Welcome to the DMV Stingers list.

Eventually I’ll get some sort of Coffee and Stingers event together.

Welcome and congrats t1328. While I got all you Maryland guys here, my dealer claims that I was the first in Md to buy a GT2. Did any of you guys purchase before 12-28-2017?

I keep seeing the same one inside Montgomery Mall - literally inside, on the floor of the mall :-).

My Volvo has a setting to activate the seat heater but I think it only comes on when the temp is low, can't recall because the wife mainly drives it. I have taken it on days when it's warm and it does not come on but on a morning, like yesterday when it was in the 20's, it was on. On that car it comes on at max setting though.
Sweden is damn cold, so I expect that Volvo would do that. I don't actually want it starting on its own, but I'd love for it to remember my most recent settings. Oh well, one or two extra clicks after getting in won't hurt.

Well, I got mine Saturday the 3rd of Feb, 2018, so you definitely beat me there.

My kids Jeep knows what the outside temp is and automatically kicks on the seat heater and steering wheel heater, if it is under 40 degrees outside and the wiper deicer if it is under 33. Seems like a pretty easy thing to program in to the car..
