Interesting the SS weighs less, has more hp/torque, but performance numbers are virtually identical:

6-speed automatic / 8-speed automatic

0-60 mph: 4.5 sec / 4.4 sec
0-100 mph: 10.5 sec / 10.6 sec
5-60 mph: 5.1 sec / 5.0
30-50 mph: 2.6 sec / 2.5 sec
50-70 mph: 3.1 sec / 3.2 sec
¼-mile: 12.9 sec @ 111 mph / 12.9 sec @ 111 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 153 ft / 156 ft
300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.95 g / 0.93 g
That's all down to having 2 more gears. We've come a long way from the 4-speed automatics that were commonplace and gave 6-speed manuals the advantage... Now with 8-speed autos, 6-speed manuals are sometimes (in fact, quite often!) slower. Moving into 10-speed autos is weird, though... That's just too many gearshifts getting to grocery getting speed, lol
