So I bought my car in July and I noticed a label on my keychain tag had a MEID for cellular and Part Number CDMA P18060, FCC ID: 2AAQ6AC05.

I looked up the FCC ID and it's a GPS tracker that was placed in my car. Apparently the dealership put in a separate GPS tracker. I want to remove it, how do I find it and remove it?

Here is the manual to the tracker: AC05 GPS Tracker User Manual Users Manual M-Labs Technologies, LLC

Was this NOT on the paperwork...i find it hard to believe they didnt charge you for this. Mine did and told them HELL NO. No reason for them to be installing a tracking device on any vehicle.

Id have the dealer remove ASAP...just my two cents

Looked through the paperwork and didn't see anything about a GPS tracker.

Isn't this redundant? Via the media systems on this car, and given that cell phones are paired to it the whole time, GPS is ongoing regardless. Having one removed isn't going to change any of that.

Live with this: the modern world has the ability to not only find you, but to shut you down. Most modern cars can be TURNED OFF via nanny state systems. You'll be hightailing it from the bank heist, and suddenly, the car will brake, move to the side of the road and shut down. Finité. "They" know who you are, where you are and what you are driving; all, the, time. The only reason why I don't know or think about it is because "they" don't care. As long as I remain invisible through the anonymity of numbers (like living within a school of fish), I won't notice a thing. But privacy is a quaint notion anymore. There literally is no such thing in the modern advancing world.

Well I don’t want a third party tracking my movement or how fast I’m driving my car. If I find this non-OEM device I’m pulling it.

While i dont disagree with this, it doesnt mean i am ok with adding to it :)

Just like those little OBD2 dongles the insurance companies want you to install to "save" you money on premiums. Yeah right...first thing they will check when accident happens is what that device was recording. I am not certain of how many parameters they have access to but i am floored with what is available in commonly accessible bluetooth scan tools.

No need to add to the pile on this one is my thought.

If it makes you feel empowered to discover and lobotomize add on information gathering devices, go ahead. It doesn't hurt anything. But the crusade against information gathering is feckless.

Did you ever find this?

Im curious if I have one and would want to know assp.

Is that what a tracker means under safety features for car listings?

Who are "they? "

I kinda like the tracking system, know of a woman that ran off the road in hills of Alabama in Spring and was not found until Winter when the leaves fell off the trees. Her husband was accused of killing her and hiding body. So anyway, make sure spouse has tracker installed :)

Sure if I decide to put one in. Not if the delear puts them in and doesnt say anything. That's just invasion of privacy.
