• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

i spend a lot of time on the road visiting customers, and depend on my GPS as I do not always know where I am in our vast city.

So today, I get to a junction, the screen is split, left side indicates to turn left (which is correct) but the right side is showing that I need to do a U turn, along with the voice command. Later on, heading to another location, approaching a junction, left screen showing turn left (again the right way) but the right side is telling me to continue straight for 11kms........ this road ends at the bay after 2 kms........ cue submarine mode.......

Any one else having issues with the GPS?

Because you can’t turn right into that street you have 10 m to go to do a U turn to go back and turn left into street. Nothing wrong with your GPS mate.

I can’t determine the road names so I could be wrong.

Looks like it shows the U turn coming up next on the left as well, you're just seeing the blue line telling you where your route will ultimately take you. Would have been good to bring up the turn-by-turn list at that moment, to see what it was thinking..

Most likely, the map data for that intersection is wrong, and it's thinking you can't turn left there. Data issue, not GPS problem.

This is why you agree to not blindly follow the GPS instructions everytime the vehicle starts up. To prevent "submarine mode".. lol

Quite right - and to also not drive off a cliff and urgently need 'airplane' or 'parachute' mode while you tumble. Imagine trying to use that touch screen while somersaulting!:)

In my experience with the gps when the voice command says to do one thing but the map shows something else then the map has always been correct so I follow it. Also I have had some weird route suggestions on even simple stuff at the start of and the end of a route so now I zoom in and check before I leave

Another GPS funny, I was low on fuel, so the courteous GPS asks if I would like to find the nearest petrol station, I use a BP card, so I selected BP from the list, it then selected a route to the nearest ferry terminal for a 45 minute cruise across the bay, where there was a BP station.........

The split shows both times that you have to go right (see the tiny bit of blue going right on the left screen?) ... might be actually what you have to do. but I have seen navis of various kinds also doing silly stuff. Like send me right and around a roundabout 360 to come back, while I could have just gone left etc .... it occasionally happens with various GPSes, depending on map quality or some calc error. I've had my BMW GPS once send me off a highway and immediatly in again on the same exit for no apparent reason and so on.

I had the same issue twice today.
Both times I was supposed to turn left but both the head up display and voice over said turn right.
I stopped and took a photo of the screen the second time.

At last, I’m not going crazy, and I’m not the only one to see this issue....... BTW I was about 10 minutes behind you on the Nepean

I get this problem all the time. Screen telling me to turn but the talking GPS on the passenger seat tells me to go straight.

I have to call that voice command wife for some reason.

Look closely at that photo... It thinks you are going the wrong way on the road, so the right turn (the blue stub at the intersection) is trying to get you back on track because there's no way to get from where it thinks you are on the wrong side of the road.

Yes, it's a software bug - but less about telling you to turn right, and more about snapping the car's location into the correct side of a divided road when GPS location isn't exact, so it doesn't get itself into a nonsensible routing situation...

Head up display was showing right turn for about 4 km before the turn.
It had plenty of time to righ itself
