I've also heard people say they've been quoted 6-8 months wait for a new one now due to COVID and semiconductor related delays.

I'm almost at the point when I'm ready to order one, but will probably wait now. Oct-Dec is the time of year when new features are released for the next year. I'd be annoyed if I ordered a car now for full freight due to low stock, and waited 6-8 months to find out my new car doesn't have the latest kit.

In the meantime something else might catch my eye, but I doubt it.
I like things like tilt/reach memory. Not many cars have all the things I prioritise in a fast tourer with long warranty in this price bracket.

I think unlikely a facelift V2 would be released in the near future.

Given that the ship unloaded in Brisbane on 22/3 I would say the car was possibly sold to someone else.

Is this a common occurrence when ordering cars? If I've signed a contract and paid a deposit, does that mean the dealer can deliver the first cars to the people paying the most or something?

Business owner's ethics are as varies as any other people. Is possible they do, if or how often, who knows.

It's quite possible. Most car salespeople do not rank high on the ethics scale.

Which is why folks should be asking for a VIN, if the dealer says it's out of the factory it will have a VIN.

Has anyone else noticed that the price has gone up a couple of grand in the ads in carsales.com.au?

I suspect there a few unwitting queue jumpers paying good margins to the dealer

I was advised of another delay, now the first few weeks in May.
Who really knows the ship I was tracking is now laid up in China for repairs.

Yep that's the same story I was told too; maybe some news in beginning of May, who knows from there. Pretty bad time to order a build!
