Hi folks! Decided to make an account after lurking here for a while. I have very much enjoyed learning about your vehicles, so thanks for the many posts full of useful information, and all the great pics!

I was hoping that some of you might have an answer for me about a question that I've long been looking for the answer to. I am extremely close to acquiring a Stinger. While I am located in the USA, the Stinger I am planning on purchasing is located in Canada (its a GT Limited, most similar to the GT2). I am fully aware of the differences between the American and Canadian Stinger, the challenges of importing a vehicle, and any warranty considerations... my question is mainly this: is there a way to switch the primary units on the dash and HUD to Imperial? Right now, they are in metric, but luckily the speedo is dual-labeled, so I won't really have to guess about how fast I'm going in miles per hour.

What I'm wondering about is the heads-up display, since it would be a bummer to have that lovely thing projecting on my windshield, but having to do a bunch of mental math to convert it to MPH. Does anyone, particularly Canadian owners, have any advice on whether this is changeable?

I greatly appreciate your replies, and any insight you may have! Thanks y'all!

Welcome! Why not wait a bit more until summer to see what the 2019 version brings? Word is the packaging will change for the 2019 model year and those vehicles should be arriving over the summer.

Thanks! I'm definitely interested in seeing how the 2019 version will change, but I'm looking to buy sooner rather than later. There's also no guarantee the equipment levels will be different, and I really like the vehicle I found — so I figure there's no time like the present.

I am really curious about adjusting the HUD units, though. I'd be a little bummed if that can't be done, especially since I doubt there'd be a good reason not to allow it!

You're right about there being no guarantee the 2019 model has more options. And if it does, it'll probably cost more. I didn't say definitely - but in my opinion, it'll probably cost more if it has more options...

I hear you on that but I think KIA pricing the car that high here means they either have plans to do a luxury line within the brand or they goofed. I recalled a video in which one of the folks on a press drive said the car would come in at $45K loaded. I was surprised to hear it was $50K here and missing some of the options. Keep in mind the Hyundai Genesis sedan came out under $50k and now that they have spun off, they are now selling the G80 Sport with AWD, loaded for $60K ($59K and change). The 3.8 starts for $42K in RWD, $45K with AWD, loaded (AWD) it is $56K. Seems like the priced it between the 2 but it's missing options when compared to them. If they started it at $45K as it is now and over the course of it's cycle took it to $52K, it would be better for us and an easier pill to swallow but in the grand scheme of the industry, it is still competitively priced for other mid-sized luxury sedans. What they could do at a mid-cycle refresh is get some better quality plastics to make it truly a luxury car in the minds of folks who don't think it is there yet.

Let's hope they start making more performance models in the line up, not just for the existing line-up but they should launch a couple of new models as well. I love the look of that Novo Concept, plus I want to see a XC60 sized sporty CUV with a sporty hybrid powertrain at a reasonable price.

I've driven down to Seattle and Portland and the HUD does convert to MPH when I cross the border , I'll check in the set up mode whether you can adjust the speedo to Miles from KMs as well

Agreed, i think they got a little greedy with the US market. $45K as they are equipped now seems to be more reasonable in my opinion too...and that is not even considering the price and spec of the Canadian model. If adding more options to bring the US Spec to that of the Canadian Spec is going to inflate price another $5K then i may as well get a BMW or Audi...which, by the way, both offer better lease programs.

If it changes automatically that is a pretty amazing feature!

Also of note, I've noticed that the clock also automatically changes when you drive into a different time zone! Smart!

EDIT: You may need nav for this to work though.

No wonder people were surprised at the $50k price. I never saw that video but knew from the very beginning when Kia themselves said the car would be "under $50k" that this didn't mean $5k less - but "just under"...

I'm highly confident the few extra features will bring the price that high. Maximum, maybe $2k. Probably around $1500...

I agree, that really is cool...

My first iphone didnt even change time zones automatically. Well done on that one.

For "under 50K"...that is just marketing smoke and mirrors...$49,999.99...yep, under 50K. Glad to hear you think the extra features will only be $1500 to $2000 as this may be swallowable :)

Oh noooo! Wait...while you're checking that, can you verify if the HUD can be changed from KMH to MPH? That's really my main concern, since the speedometer has both units. Thank you!

You got me so excited, then crestfallen. And now I'm elated again! You surely made this an emotional day for me! What a roller coaster! Thank you, friend! :-D

I can tell you this, the Audi and BMW competing models (A5 is $56K loaded and 430 GC is $58K) with similar equipment will be at a higher price than the Stinger GT loaded and they have a 2.0T. The Stinger 2.0T Premium with all options will be around $43K, about the same as the starting price for the A5 base. Going up to a 6 cylinder, the S5 will run you $66K loaded and the 440 GC is $65K, these are based on AWD versions as the Audi is AWD and the BMW and Stinger can be had with AWD as well.

Their lease number are better for sure but if you plan on keeping them long term, well the cost out of warranty will add up.
