TLDR; Check engine light came on accelerating on the on ramp, smoke from exhaust and car shacking.
Bad fuel pump also center tail lamp has water inside. Both getting replaced under warranty. Got a 2021 Sportage as a loaner. Also Kia road assistance is a joke.
Story time... saturday at 5 pm I'm driving home from work. I get on the high way and as I'm accelerating up to speed on the on ramp car does not feel right. As I reach 55 mph the car suddenly jerks and the check engine light instantly kicks on. I freak out and start heading to the dealership which is an 8 min drive. I stay on the right lane and maintain 55 mph ( speed limit ). I get off as soon as possible and as I'm coming to the first light the car feels like it is about to stall. I pull over to an office lot and notice smoke coming from the exhaust and the car running rough. I shut it off and call the dealership. Service is closed, so I try the Kia "24/7" roadside assistance. That was a waste of time . I never got to speak with a person instead they texted me a link that put me in a queue that never actually did anything. I get on my Geico app and request a tow truck (flat bed). Fast forward to Monday. Dealership opened a "ticket" with the service techs in California. Had to wait until Wednesday to get a loaner since they were slammed with Optimas that were getting new engines. In comes the brand new Kia Sportage hahah at least I'm the first one to drive it with only 23 miles on the odometer. It was either that or a Soul . I also had them look at the center tail light that had water in it. They're going to replace the fuel pump and the lamp .
Anyone else have had a fuel pump go bad?
