i got 29mpg last weekend in smart mode, cruise control. drove apprx. 100-200 miles. all highway.
driving in the schitty, 30 mph roads, i get 17-18mpg.
i was surprised by the 29.

I can believe it if the route is fairly flat, little wind, and the cruise isn't set to an insane number. I've seen 27-28MPG highway (car's computer calc, not paper) with the cruise set to 78MPH. There's definitely a theoretical limit to what can be squeezed from the drivetrain though, because maths/physics. Because of this I don't pay much attention, knowing I'm going to get what I get. And I got the car for the fun, so I'm not hypermiling it on my commute.

With the 2.5T I can fairly easily get 30mpg with just a bit of babying, if I'm really taking it easy I get 32mpg doing 70mph behind a truck on the highways with no place to be fast. I'm usually doing 80/20 highway/city driving. Probably more like 28mpg at 50/50 mixed driving. I'm fine with these numbers, I surpassed 14k miles already after only 6 months, so I really needed the 2.5T as my DD.
This trip was from Louisville, KY, to Niagra Falls, NY nearly 562 miles at an average speed of 68.7 MPH. Drove through five significant cities; stopped for Lunch, fuel, and 2 bathroom breaks. The adaptable cruise control was set at 80-85 MPH. This was in my 2019 GT2-- I was not babying the car in any way to save fuel-- Time was my goal. I have 2022 now and will make an 800-mile trip next week (Home to Saratoga Springs, NY). I hope this one comes close . . .
